Nicole was a special girl. Curious, charming, sweet, everything you would expect from a little 5 year old girl. However, she had a secret , a secret that only one person knew, a secret that would pay the price.
White. That's all Nicole could see. No walls, floors, ceiling; just white. Confused, Nicole just walked into the white abyss, not knowing what to expect. "Come here child." A voice called out to her. It sounded so...Soothing, calm, hypnotic. But most importantly...Familiar? Nicole followed the voice as it kept calling like a broken record; repeating over and over again.
Unsure, Nicole just said, "Where am I?" as she looked around hoping for an answer. "Why, you are home child, this is the room where you encounter good memories and bad ones. Think of it as a storage room, a place where you put your most important items in." The soothing voice said. Thinking, Nicole said. "Then who are you? And why am I here?" There was a slight pause, then the voice answered. "You don't remember me..." It sounded.... Heartbroken. "I was there when your mother gave birth to you. But you will figure out who I am, all due in time."
Not satisfied with her answer, Nicole started to complain. "But why? You know me so it must be fair that I know you." The voice chuckled, amused at the child's mini tantrum. "You are fiesty just like your mother. You are here because you are special, Nikki. You can see things that no one else can see."
"Oooh! Like Batman? Or Superman? Or like Wonder Woman?" Nicole interrupted the voice, getting ecstatic.
In an amused tone, the voice continued, "Not quite." Earning a groan of disappointment from the fire haired, emerald eyed, five-year-old. "You are able to see people for who they are, black or white. Black is for people who are bad and white is for people who are good. However, you will see most people grey."
"But I don't see people white, black, or gray. I see in colors, like everyone else." Nicole stated, perplexed.
"As I said before, all in due time. Now, Nicole it's time for you to wake up. Wake up, wake up, wake up...."
"WAKE UP, WAKE UP, WAKE UP NIKKI!" Reneé shook Nicole as she stirred awake. "Ngnnn..." Nikki mumbled as she stirred awake. "Wake up, it's your first day of school." Reneé stated lovingly, looking at her red haired child as Nikki rubbed her eyes.
Getting out of bed, Nikki walked up to her mother, attempting to grab her hand. "How did you sleep, princess?" Reneé asked, leading her downstairs to get breakfast. "It was okay. But Mommy, I had a weird dream, where this invisible person was talking to me!" Nikki stated happily, as if it was normal. Reneé, oblivious to the comment, nodded her head and sat her daughter at the table with a "That's good to know, Dear." and started to eat breakfast.

After taking a shower, and putting on her white button up shirt, a black skirt, with black stockings and shoes she was ready for school. Reneé, with baby Nathaniel in her hands, kissed Nikki on her cheek and stated, "You will be just fine, just be yourself and always try your best, no matter what you do. "Wiping off tears of joy, Reneé let her child go.
"Ready, kiddo?" Brian said, looking at Nikki. Nikki nodded, grabbing his hand and started walking out the door. Reneé, leaning against the doorway, waved at them till they were out of her sight.

(That's the school)
The school was big. It had dull bold letters that stated Wilson's Elementary School. It was white that had parts of grey on it, it obviously didn't have a good paint job. It looked like it was going to fall apart any minute, like all the houses in this town. Nikki, taking a notice of that just squeezed Brian's hand harder, as they walked into the building. The building was nice, warm, and it gave a homey feeling. But this wasn't home. Walking down the hallway, Nikki saw kids, like her, skipping rope, playing catch, and learning their ABC's. Brian and Nikki made a stop, in front of a wooden door that was decorated with all sorts of crafts and a name tag stating, 'Ms. Tawfik'. As Brian touched the doorknob, the door swung open, showing a lady with average height that looked around to be in her mid 20s, with wide brown eyes and short light brown hair that ended a bit above her shoulders. She had a curvy build and tan skin that suited her. Nikki thought she was as pretty as Mommy.
The lady smiled genuinely and looked down at Nikki, introducing herself, "Hi, sweetheart, you must be the new student I heard about. It's a pleasure to meet you. You can call me Ms. Tawfik or Ms. T." Nikki smiled, looking back at her dad.
"Oh! Come in, Ms. Creed will make sure you will get settled in and comfortable while I talk to your dad." Ms. Tawfik pushed Nikki in the classroom, only to get stared at by her classmates and to get confronted by a tall, pale, petite lady with long black hair and unique green eyes. Like Ms. Tawfik, this lady looked like she was in her mid 20s too. "Hey cutie, I'm Ms. Venus, What's your name?" Nicole, staring at the tall lady said, "I'm...I'm Nicole."
"Awww, you are just too cute. C'mon, I'll show you to your cubby, where you can put your stuff." Ms. Venus replied.
After getting settled, Nicole became nervous. 'What happens if they don't like me,' 'What if I'm too weird for them?,' 'I just want to go home.' Nicole's thoughts were interrupted when two girls came her way. One was pale with a round face and big brown eyes while the other was dark skinned with a longer face and more droopy eyes. "Hi, I'm Gabriella and this is Aamani. We were wondering if you want to hang with us today." The pale girl stated while the other shyly waved at her. All of a sudden, Nikki's fear went away. Maybe school wasn't going to be as bad as she thought. At least with them around.
