Slowly Losing It

It was about a year after everyone was captured, I started to lose my voice, I could no longer speak to anyone except the friends around me,  I tried to talk to Bob, but my voice just wouldn't let me. I already started learning some sign language, but I mostly just finger spelled. One time in particular was pretty bad.

Bob walked into the room, which was strange because Loli usually was the one who came into the room. I screamed a little bit, but I caught myself.

"What's wrong Rose? "

I didn't respond.

"Rose, I asked what's wrong? "

I opened my mouth. No sound came from it. My friend were starting to worry.

"Rose, I said 'what's wrong' so answer me!"

I started to use what little sign language I knew to try to communicate with my friends.

I don't think I can speak.

"Rose, can you repeat that but slower? " said Jordan, she knew a little sign, she wanted to be a sign language interpreter.

I don't think I can speak I signed slower.

"Oh, " Jordan turned to Bob, "You scared her, she can't speak. "

"Will she be able to speak later?" came the respond from Bob.

"Who knows, you know, being kidnapped and forced to rip pig guts out with your bare hands and not allowed to wash them afterwards takes allot out of a person."

"You know, having an aditude towards the person who kidnapped you could lead to a more unpleasant experience."

I was trying to just disappear at this point.

"Anyway," Bob said, "Back to the reason I came here in the first place. I need one of you to do a favor for me."

What is the favor I signed, Jordan repeating it with her voice to Bob.

"The favor is looking after a kitten we found nearby that was starving," came the response.

"I will!" Peyton said. No-one has any objections.

After Bob left I decided to try to speak again. "R-rainbows" I managed to get out.

"So you can talk," Jordan said.

"I-I don't k-know, I-it seems s-so" It was like I was learning to speak again.

"Why didn't you speak to Bob then?"

"I-I couldn't th-then."

"Don't you notice a difference in her voice Jordan? She sounds less confident, and is stuttering, she never stutters when Bob or Lori isn't around," Emma said.

"Oh, are you okay Rose?"

"I-I think s-s-so."

I don't think anyone believed I was okay, not that I would expect them, but thankfully they all left it there. No one really knew how bad I was. Not that I expected them to.

Please correct me if I'm wrong about the completely losing her voice thing.
