Silence. It invaded the room like an unwanted guest. Dylan itched in her seat and with every second that passed she grew more uncomfortable. It was her first time in detention, but it wasn't her fault! She swore that the teachers at Brookmoore High were useless. The girls had been harassing her for months while they watched in silence, what else was she supposed to do?

In the room there were her and three other people. Two boys and one girl, the girl was called Olivia Moore. With her long blond hair, her stereotypical good looks and her ability to manipulate any boy she came in contact with, she was one of the most popular girls in the school. Olivia and her two minions, Paige and Emily, had refused to leave her alone ever since she had moved there. This included pushing her over in the halls, 'spilling' their food onto Dylan during lunch break and spreading foul rumours about her. This torment resulted in Dylan Being the outcast of the school, no one dared to talk to the girl in fear that they would be outcast too.

One of the boys was in detention for unrelated reasons, he sat slumped in the chair and stared at the clock with a bored expression on his face.

The other boy was Olivia's boyfriend. His name was Tom and he seemed perfectly nice.. except Olivia controlled everything he did. He had fluffy blond hair and ocean eyes that made every girl melt - Well, almost every girl.

Dylan felt sorry for Tom. With Olivia as his girlfriend he had become more moody and violent, all the girls still chased after him but if anyone became unlucky enough to get on Olivia's bad side or flirt with the boy then Tom was instantly there to 'sort the situation out', under Olivia's strict orders of course.

Olivia, Tom and Dylan was in detention because of the same reason. During lunch break Olivia and her friends had cornered Dylan, they had started making fun of her because of her home life (which they got off the school computer) and joked about her mother. Dylan had had enough of their shit and pushed Olivia over, the girl had fell onto the floor dramatically and it was enough for Tom to come over.

Dylan thought back to what had happened that morning.

As soon as Tom saw Olivia on the floor he was by her side in an instant, asking what was wrong. "She attacked me!" Olivia screeched rather unattractively. Something seemed to snap in Tom and he seemed to move at lightening speed, pinning Dylan against the lockers easily with one arm trapping her and the other balled into a fist, ready to strike her at any moment.

This was the first physical conflict Dylan had experienced but she was prepared. For most of her life her father had forced her to go to self defence lessons and over the years she had developed an adequate skillset. Tom mumbled something under his breath and hit the locker next to her head hard enough to leave a substantial dent. Dylan squeezed her eyes shut as images flashed before her eyes, it was almost enough to send her into a bottomless spiral of panic but she forced herself to calm down, looking up at Tom again with wide eyes. It stunned Dylan how strong the boy was, he was skinny and looked like he could barely hurt a fly.

It second for Dylan to recover from the noise of the locker denting. Tom took that opportunity to draw his hand back and punch her square in the nose. Blood erupted from Dylan's nose and she let out a cry, causing Olivia to cackle of cruel laughter. By this time a small crowd had formed around them and people were cheering and whistling in hopes of encouraging the angered boy that still had Dylan pinned.

Tom took a second to look around to see how people around them were reacting with a wide grin plastered on his face. Dylan, with dark crimson blood pouring down her face and, kicked him between his legs. The blonde haired boy's face turned paper white in a second and he let out a pathetic whimper, collapsing on the ground and curling up into a ball.

Stunned silence.

Dylan wiped the blood off her face with her sleeve and looked down at him disapprovingly before spitting a mixture of saliva and blood onto him and walking away.

And now she was stuck here.

Looking up at the clock again Dylan breathed a silent sigh of relief. Only ten minutes left. Her nose throbbed angrily, making it hard to breath, she was lucky it wasn't broken. Glancing at Olivia she gave Dylan one of the dirtiest looks, she was surprised smoke wasn't pouring out of her ears.

Dylan looked away from her and to Tom. She could feel Olivia's eyes bore into her skull angrily as she studied the boy's face. Tom looked sick, his face had turned from a paper white to a sickly yellow and he couldn't sit comfortably in his chair. Dylan felt a pang of guilt about what she had done to him, perhaps she shouldn't have kicked him quite so hard.. she winced slightly as her nose let out an especially painful throb and the guilt instantly dissapeared, replacing the emotion was a simmering anger, making Dylan look away.

The last ten minutes was spent with Dylan looking down at her hands, fidgeting nervously at what her father was going to say, Tom rocking back and fourth on his chair uncomfortably and Olivia glaring angrily into the back of Dylan's head. As soon as the bell rang for the end of the detention the three other people in the classroom left as quickly as they could, leaving Dylan to follow behind them. Olivia and Tom got out first with the other boy following closely behind. Dylan waited a couple of seconds before walking out of the classroom, making sure they didn't see which way she was going to walk home.

Dylan was cautious walking home, keeping an eye out for Olivia and her boyfriend, sure she was going to get jumped by them.

When she walked in her dad rushed up to her with a worried expression on his face, "what happened? Why are you so late home??" He studied her face, checking that her nose wasn't broken. Nathan was an ex police officer, he was surprisingly young for someone who had quit the job but after the accident he just couldn't handle it anymore. He had lost his wife in an instant and was terrified of the same happening to his daughter. Because of this fear he had moved the two of them here in hope of starting fresh and forgetting their past.

"I'm fine dad, there was just an accident at school. And trust me, the other person ended up worse than me" she smirked to herself a little bit, thinking about what had happened.

Nathan sighed with a defeated look on his face. "I trust you to look after yourself, but if you're going to be late home please tell me" when he spoke Dylan felt her heart sink, it was surprising how the most simple phrases could drag her back to that night.

She shook herself out of it, looking up at her dad again, "I'm sorry, I will dad. Promise" she gave him a hug before going upstairs and crashing in her bed.

"Come on! Stop making so much noise or you'll regret it" a dark figure threatened while covering her mouth with tape. She was unable to move, trying to break from her restraints and looking around her for a meant of escape.

He picked her up and threw her over his shoulder uncomfortably, carrying her deep into the forest all she could see was the dark night sky.

"Now be a good girl for us and don't scream..."
