Cold and dark, it’s the only thing that is absolute in the city at night.
Roaming the streets as he’s looking for his next victim.
Lurking in the shadows. He didn’t want to be this way; circumstances caused him to become a monster, a monster he has to face in the mirror every day.
‘Maybe I should just go home.’ Eiichi thinks as he pulls his jacket closer around his body, trying to keep the coldness outside, but realizing that the coldness he feels is coming from inside. As he crosses the street, he spots his newest victim.
A young...male it seems to be, but unable to be sure due to the hoodie that is pulled over his head. Sneaking closer, he puts his hand over his mouth.
“If you scream you die, understand?” Eiichi asks and his victim nods his head slowly.
Holding his hand over his mouth, he pulls him into the nearest alleyway and pushes him against the wall.
“Remember what I said?” Eiichi asks as his gaze pierces that of the terrified young man and he nods again slowly.
“Now hand over your wallet and cell phone.”Eiichi says coldly, holding a knife in one hand and stretching out his other.
Trembling, the young man reaches into his pocket and produces his phone and wallet. The moment Eeichi moves to take his newest products, the young man moves and disarms him in a quick movement. Taking him by the arm, he slings him over and Eiichi’s head makes contact with the cold pavement.
“The next time you try to rob someone, make sure that the person is unable to defend themselves.” The young man says, grabbing his belongings and sprinting out of the alleyway.
Lying there on the cold pavement, Eiichi looks up at the moon and realizes that one of his prey just got away.
‘Well, well, well, it seems that maybe, for tonight at least, my chosen victim wasn’t as scared as he pretended to be. Don’t worry; I’ll get you next time.’ Eiichi thinks as he picks himself up and dusts of his jacket.
Exiting the alleyway, he starts to make his way to his empty and lonely apartment.
‘Failure to plan is planning to fail. I’ll get him next time. This is actually the first time that someone has gotten away from me unharmed. No, No, No this will absolutely not do.’ He thinks as he walks home, pulling his jacket tighter again.
Around the next corner, the almost victim has stopped to catch his breath as he puts his hands on his knees. Checking to make sure he did grab his wallet and phone, he peeks around the corner, but sees no one.
“What the hell was that? Now a days they stab before robbing you, but that guy was different.’ Otoya thinks as he remembers the young man who had just tried to rob him.
“He looked tired, as though his heart wasn’t really in it. Doesn’t matter, I need to get home quickly.’ Otoya thinks, shaking his head, turning and sprinting in the direction of his apartment.
Entering the lobby, Otoya misses the young man standing at the post boxes, but as the young man turns, a smile creeps over his face as he starts to laugh menacingly inside.
‘Well what do you know? This must be the luckiest night of my life.’ He thinks as he sees the familiar hoodie running up the stairs.
