When Jasper woke up, he was confused about where he was, everything around him was bright white, it hurt his eyes so he closed them again and groaned a little.
Suddenly he felt his arm being lift up and squeezed tightly.
He heard a voice speaking, but he couldn't figure out what it was saying, no matter how much he concentrated.
He felt tired, and drifted back off to sleep, the voice speaking more urgent but still not understandable.

When Jasper woke up again he could think more clearly, he tried to open his eyes and was happy to find out that it wasn't as bright anymore. He looked around and saw someone sitting in a chair next to his bed, their head was hanging down and they were snoring softly.
It took Jasper a moment to realize that that was Walter sitting there.
"Walter." Jasper said, lightly slapping at Walter to wake him up. His head shot up and he almost crushed Jasper in a hug.
"Oh my God you're okay! I was so worried!" Walter said rapidly.
"Ah!" Jasper said, his ribs hurting, Walter quickly let go.
"Sorry, I was just too exited to remember your injuries."
"Injuries? What happened? Where am I?" Jasper asked confused.
"What do you still remember?"
"I remember a party, and I got drunk, and there was a loud sound. It's all a bit fuzzy."
"Jasper, you were in a car crash. After the party my father helped you into a taxi and sent it off tomorrow your house, but there was a truck, it didn't pay attention to the road and hit the taxi." Walter said as he teared up. "I came to the hospital as soon as I could, I've been waiting next to your bed ever since it happened."
"How long have I been here?"
"You've been here for about a week."
"Mom? Dad?" Jasper asked, looking around hopefully.
"They have been checking up on you every day, but they went home for the night, we can call them first thing in the morning."
Jasper jawned and looked at Walter tiredly.
"You should sleep darling, I'll give you some space to think about things." He said getting up. Jasper grabbed his hand and tugged weakly.
"No, stay." Jasper said tiredly, making Walter smile and sit back down in the chair.
"Alright darling."
Jasper jawned and fell alseep again.

When he woke up the next morning he saw his parents talking softly besides his bed, but they looked over when he groaned and covered his eyes.
"Jasper! You're awake!" His mother said happily.
"We almost didn't believe Walter when he said you woke up in the middle of the night, but we are so glad that you did." His father said relieved.
"Hey Mom and Dad," Jasper said with a weak smile, looking around, "where's Walter?"
"We sent him home to get some proper sleep, he'll be back this afternoon." His father said reassuringly while his mother ran her fingers through his hair.
"How are you feeling sweetie?" His mother asked.
"Tired, weak, pain." Jasper said.
"That's okay sweetie, this takes a lot out of you, you still have to heal."
Just then there was a knock on his door, a doctor walked in holding a clipboard.
"Jasper? I'd like to examine you to see how you're doing." She said, Jasper nodded and looked at her.
"Do you remember anything from what happened?"
Jasper thought for a while.
"There was a party, I got drunk, someone helped me into a taxi and I drove off, but then there was a loud sound and a sudden pressure on my chest, after that it went dark. But there was someone else in the taxi with me, from the party."
The doctor nodded and wrote something on the clipboard. "Yes, there were two other people in the taxi with you, the driver, and one of your friends, Sophie I believe?"
"Are they okay?" Jasper asked worriedly.
"Well, the driver is fine, the truck hit the back end so he wasn't hurt. Your friend on the other hand..."
"What is it? What happened to her? She's not dead is she?"
"No, she's not dead, but she's in a coma, like you were. And that's not all..." The doctor looked unsure wther she could continue.
"What's wrong?"
The doctor sighed and started talking.
"The truck hit her side of the taxi, she suffered severe damage to the spinal cord."
"What would that mean for her?" Jasper asked worriedly.
"She is paralized from the waist down, she will never walk again." She said with a sigh.
Jasper gasped and grabbed his mother's hand tightly, she squeezed his hand back.
"Could we see her?" His father asked.
"Jasper needs to rest more, he can't leave his bed. But miss and mister Anderson may see her."
"We'll stay with our son for now if that's okay." Said his mother. The doctor nodded and left the room.

Jasper was overcome with joy when Walter came into the room, and even more so when he noticed a bouquet of flowers with him.
"Hey darling, how are you feeling?" Walter said with a small smile.
"Much better now that you're here."
Said Jasper as he reached for Waler. "What have you got there?"
Walter held up the bouquet of yellow and white flowers. "I got you some flowers to cheer up this dull hospital room. There's fennel for strength and star of Bethlehem for hope." Jasper smiled more at that and tried to wrap his arms around his boyfriends neck.
"You dork."
"I'm your dork though." Walter said as he put the flowers in a vase.
"I'm so lucky to have you as my boyfriend." Jasper said with a smile.

A week later Jasper was walking out the hospital doors, leaning on Walter and his parents on either side.
"Walter, would you want to sleep over at our place tonight? I'm pretty sure that Jasper would like that very much." His mother said.
"And we would feel safe too, knowing that there is someone to take care of our son." His father added.
"As much as we'd like to stay, we have to get back to work, we're sorry sweetie." His mother said sadly.
"It's alright, it's at least comforting to know that you care enough about me to just take a break of two weeks because I'm in the hospital. I'll be alright. I love you guys."
"And we love you back." His father said, ruffling his hair.
"Now, how about some dinner? We can catch you up on what happened while you regain some weight."
Jasper nodded and sat down in the back of his car, not letting go of Walter.

"Uh, how do you do this?"
They we're all standing in the kitchen, and Walter was trying to figure out how to turn on the stove so they could cook some sirloin steak.
"Babe, it's just a gaslit stove, you know how to use that right?" Jasper said while trying to hold in a laugh.
"Um... No?..." Walter said looking a little ashamed but laughing a little too.
"Unacceptable, we must learn you everything, can you even cook?"
Walter hung his head. "No."
"It's alright honey, I'll teach you, we'll have plenty of time for that if you're gonna live with me for the next week or so." Jasper said with a sweet smile.
"Okay, so, how do I turn the stove on?"
"Well, you want to press down on this dial so it starts making sparks, and then turn it open so the gas comes out, just keep pressing and turning untill it's on." Jasper said while pointing at the knobs.
Walter picked one and did as Jasper said, looking proud when he got it on. "I did it!"
"Good job darling, but you turned the wrong one on, this one is too small for the pan we're using." Jasper said with a smile, patting Walter on his back.
Walter looked around and tried various knobs untill he found the right one after a few tries. Jasper smiled endearingly.
They spent the rest of the evening teaching Walter how to cook.
When they were done, Walter looked very proud of himself, even though the dinner wasn't that great in and of itself.
