I must've fallen asleep admiring him because I'd woken up and he was gone. Walking out to the kitchen, the keys were still there with a paper with writing in big letters. "Keep Me." When I'd picked up the paper, it unfolded to reveal a note.
"I've business to tend to, but I've left coordinates in the GPS. I'm taking you to lunch. I'll see you soon gorgeous. -Mase"I found myself smiling a fool while reading. Shit! Work!! I ran to shower and get dressed. Plopping myself into the car, I drove to work like a mad woman. "I'm so sorry! I know I'm late. I got held up.." I scrambled into Alex's office and leaned on his desk.
"I don't care. Get your ass out there and get to work." He glared at me and pushed up his reading glasses. "Are you just going to stand there? Get out of my office. NOW!" I flinched at his tone.
Leaving his office, I sat at my desk, tears fighting to fall. What an asshole. The whole day had passed me by and by the time I was done being scolded about work not being done on time, it was 10:00 pm. "Fuck..." I brushed my hair back and pushed up my reading glasses, gathering some folders off my desk and tucking it into my bag. I hadn't noticed how exhausted And sore I was. My body was suddenly screaming for some sleep. My hair felt as if my scalp was detached, my sides sore with a variety of different sized, slightly purple bruises. Stepping into the bathroom and putting my face into my palms, I let out a very unwomanly sigh of relief. Screw today. Looking at myself, there was slight bruising on my neck as well and two hickeys... that I could see. Great. I'm the office slut. I threw my bag over my shoulder and walked out, immediately bumping into Alex at the elevator.
"Hey..." I half smiled. He looked at me and rolled his eyes away. Pulling some hair in front of my shoulders, I tried to conceal the purple marks on me. "Look, I'm really sorry about bef"-"Before nothing. Nothing happened. Don't speak about it. Ever. Got it?!" His tone was sharp and hostile.
"Got it." I gave him a side glare. When I'd gotten to the garage, I'd started my car and laughed at myself for thinking I could have built an actual relationship with such a dickwad of a boy. Not man. But boy.
After taking a much needed shower for my sore body, I lay in an oversized tee without anything else. My entrance sore, with a ton of tiny cuts inside and out, I refused to squirm much. Picking up my phone from the side table, I'd had 12 missed calls and 35 texts. Wow. All a mixture of Deena, Mason, and Alex. Alex was more as demanding me to call him "Mr. Hale", and to only call the office number . What an asshole. Ugh. Deena on the other hand, was screaming excitement through her texts. "I went to the apartment and there were a bunch of people with Mason in the lobby, so I turned around and left ." The rest of the texts and calls were from Mason. I texted back. "I'm so sorry! Alex held me up at the office. I'll call you in the morning." Laying my phone back on the side table, I rolled over and fell asleep.
Sunlight poured through the curtains as I tried to open my eyes. Blocking my eyes and squinting for a second, I looked around me and found myself in a completely different room. Completely different house at that. The gold doorknob turned and the doors opened, as Mason walked in, he ran his fingers through his hair, pushing it back to reveal his unease. I sat up and pulled the blanket to cover my lower body as I crossed my legs underneath it. "I think we need to have a talk about you kidnapping me." I smiled at him. A comfortable smile, one that wasn't returned.
"You missed lunch yesterday. You didn't answer any of my texts or calls." He paced at the foot of the bed.
"Calm down. I was busy. Working. Apparently, my dick boss doesn't allow down time anymore. Nor can I leave he office without a certain quota met, so, I couldn't leave yesterday." I shrugged it off and lay back into the bed.
"Who's your boss?" He sat on the other side of the bed, placing a hand over the blanket, on top of my thigh.
"Is this my kinky cue to say 'you are'? Or are you asking me who I work for?" I leaned up and wiggled my eyebrows at him.
