"Where are you off to?" Nik asked as I put on my jacket.
"Work. The only employee I had was murdered by your psychotic ex-girlfriend, so I have to man the shop until I can hire someone new," I explained, grabbing my purse off the bed. "I assume you're going to see said ex to get her to reveal things about this prophecy and the alliance her brother has with your mini-me?"
"I am," he nodded.
"Well, then it's a good thing I'll be kept busy instead of sitting here, wondering what you could possibly be doing with that woman."
"Careful, kitten. Your jealous side is starting to show," Nik joked and I sent him a glare. I went to leave the room, but Nik grabbed my arm, stopping me. "Until we know Aurora's true intentions, it would probably be best if you stayed at the apartment."
"What? You want me to leave?"
"I want you and our child to be safe. You'll be safer there than you will be here."
"This is insane. I can't believe you're making me leave."
"Ellie, it's for your own protection. She will not be able to enter that place. Neither will Lucien, or Tristan, or any of the Strix."
"You don't think I can protect myself?" I countered, crossing my arms over my chest.
"I didn't say that."
"I may be seven months pregnant, but I'm still a witch. And with Freya teaching me, I'm stronger than I was before."
"I know, but –," I cut him off.
"Look, I have to go, but you need to make sure she keeps her hands to herself or I will cut them off and shove them down her throat." Nik let out a sigh as I pushed past him and made my way out of the compound.

"So, where is Klaus?" Hayley asked as Elijah slid a knife across his hand.
"When I told him about Rebekah, he said he'd pursue another lead," Freya revealed.
"That lead being Aurora?" I questioned, an eyebrow raised. He had spent the entire day with her.
"Forget Niklaus," Elijah spoke up, handing the bowl full of his blood to Freya. "You will find her."
"Are you sure you got enough juju for a worldwide locator spell?" Marcel asked her.
"She's my family. I won't lose her." Freya began chanting the incantation, pouring the blood onto a world map. The blood pooled on the map instead of showing us Rebekah's location. "Damn it."
"So much for witch GPS," Hayley commented.
"I assumed they'd cloak her. I didn't expect a spell this strong."
"No doubt conjured by the very witch who lured Rebekah into this trap," Elijah replied.
"You should all go. I have my work cut out for me."
"The Strix trust me. If they know where Rebekah is, I can find her," Marcel chimed in again.
"We don't have time. You need to stop Davina from activating Lucien and Tristan's weapon," Elijah told him.
"We need to find Rebekah."
"Marcel, I will not rest until my sister is found."
"All right. Fine. I'll handle Davina," Marcel gave in, leaving the room.
"Well, in the meantime, please tell me that we're going to kill someone," Hayley inquired, arms crossed over her chest.
"Oh, we will kill many someone's. But first, if we're to start a war, let us determine where our allegiances lie," Elijah left, Hayley following soon after.
"Is there anything I can do to help? You could channel me," I suggested.
"That probably isn't a good idea. It would put too much strain on your body and on the baby."
"Well, I need to do something. Otherwise, I'm gonna go back to that apartment and wonder what my boyfriend could possibly be doing with his ex."
"I know it's gotta be tough, but you just need to think about other things. Maybe think about rearranging the shop," Freya suggested.
"I could. I mean, I am getting more stock in a few days that I definitely don't have room for."
"There you go."
"All right. I guess I'll go," I sighed. "Please call me when you have something." She nodded, sending me a small smile as I headed for the exit.
Bit of a boring chapter, also kind of a short one.
Sorry it took so long to update! I would've updated when I got back from grocery shopping, but Wattpad was down, so I had to wait.
