Girls screams filled my ears, including Cleo's. I felt my head feel pressured whilst my heart rate and breathing increased. I was nervous to see him. The sight of his band I saw in the photo coming out was when I really lost it. I felt my heart ache when his first song started playing. This meant he was about to come on stage.I was just about to see my ex boyfriend for the first time in like 8 years. What will I do? Oh gosh... I'm panicking so much.
It was like the whole world went in slow motion as his silhouette emerged from the darkness. Stepping up from the corner of the stage his monotone expression became enlightened at the sight of all his adoring fans.
"It's brown! The suit is brown!" Cleo screams in my ear, not really recalling why the colour of his suit was so important.
The buildup to the song was excruciating whilst I clutched onto the barrier desperately. I needed something to hold me up, I felt like I was going to pass out.
He walked up towards the microphone, waving at all the fans he could see, he clutched the microphone in his hand and began singing his first song, which I had come to learn from Cleo's screaming that it was called Only Angel. Whilst he sang he pranced around the stage, looking somehow stunning in bright yellow boots. He walked past me, I quickly stuck my head down to make sure I wasn't noticed and lifted myself back up when he was gone.
And what I didn't expect was a hesitant tear to fall from my eye. It didn't even realise I was crying, I made sure to not be caught by Cleo as I wiped away the teardrop from my face but they somehow kept coming. I couldn't cope with him being at least 5 metres away from him after all these years.
After his first song finished up he sang a couple more songs before going on a monologue about the song Horses, explaining he Skyped the singer the other day and he was a brilliant man.
After a few more songs I felt like moving away, but I was stuck to fans pushing me up towards the barrier, and so I knew I wasn't going to be moving away soon.
Keeping my head down out of sight the entire time, he had sung 7 songs, including a cover of Ariana Grande's song that he claimed to have written. He truly was an amazing man, I could see someone would've been proud and exuberant with the thought of dating him. However with me, he was my past, and there's no way I'm getting him back anytime soon.
Harry went on to explain this next song was a new one and he wrote it a while ago. I had come to learn it was called 'Medicine'.
"Phoenix!" Cleo screams, grasping my arm and violently pulling it back and forth. "This is the song about him being gay! There's heaps of theories about it!"
What, lol...
He sang the song, it was extremely hot. But I can say what wasn't so hot was my eardrums exploding from most people around me randomly screaming "tasted".
The song finished, after taking a drink of water he took a deep breath. I saw a look in his eyes that could only indicate nostalgia.
"Alright, now it's time to get serious." He takes another deep breath into the microphone. "This next song is very special to me. It about a personal memory I lived through, which also broke my heart. I'm here to share my struggles with you tonight, feel free to sing along."
With a deep breath he grasps onto the microphone and the song begins to play.
"Meet me in the hallway..." He begins, flashbacks of my young self shutting my apartment door on him flash through my mind.
I grasp my gobsmacked mouth. This cannot be about us, can it?
"Just let me know I'll be at the door, at the door
Hoping you'll come around
Just let me know I'll be on the floor, on the floor
Maybe we'll work it out
I gotta get better, gotta get better
I gotta get better, gotta get better
I gotta get better, gotta get better
And maybe we'll work it out..."
