(ON HIATUS) False Hatred (Eren x Reader AU)

Chapter 8

(Your pov)

Us teenagers were sitting around the campfire like we do every night, "Tch, it's your fault that we have to be so close together like this. I'm uncomfortable, scoot away," I whined to Eren as the warm heat from the fire radiated to our faces. The beautiful mixture of orange, red, and yellow hitting everyone's' faces, seeing the fire in everybody eyes. The fire crackled and popped occasionally, spreading sparks.

"I'm not scooting away. You're going to get sick," Eren replied in a low tone.

"And who's fault would that be!?" I snapped, moving away from him.

"It would still be yours," He rolled his eyes, chuckling.

"I call bullshit."

"Y/n, you fell into the lake," He snickered.

"You pushed me!" I snapped again, yelling through shivers.

He snickered, "Oh my god, Y/n! You can't be serious! You slipped on a rock and I tried to help you, but you refused!" He snapped, causing the people around the fire to laugh at me, including Jean and Marco.

"Tch, whatever," I said coldly before standing up and stomping away to mine and Eren's spot.

(Third pov)

"Smooth," Reiner laughed.

"Shut up, Braun," Eren said harshly before staring at y/n's empty spot next to him. 

"I'll go talk to her," Levi said as he stood up, earning confused stares from the other teens.

"Are you sure?" Jean chimed in.

"Well, no one else will. Plus, you laughed at her, too, Kirsetin. She probably doesn't want to speak with you," He replied in a cold tone, similar to y/n's from earlier.

"You're right. Go ahead."

The confused teens watched Levi walk off to y/n. Everyone had confused looks on their faces and an awkward silence surrounded them, "Uhm, how about we play truth or dare!?" Hanji exclaimed, breaking it. Everyone reluctantly agreed, "I'll go first then!" She exclaimed again as she put a finger on her chin, "Marco!"

"Oh great," Marco muttered, causing Jean to snicker. 

"Have you ever lied to Jean?"

"Oh, of course, I have," Marco said with no hesitation.

"Marco!?" Jean exclaimed worriedly, "When!?"

"It was only once, and we were in fifth grade," Marco said calmly as he took a sip of his water.

"About what!? Jean yelled, still freaked out.

"When you asked me if I had a crush on y/n," He said a little quieter, trying to hide the smirk that was slowly crawling his way onto his face. 

"Oh," Was all Jean said. 

Marco laughed, "You're so gullible," He said through laughs, "I never liked her," He finished with more laughing, causing some others to laugh. Jean put his arms across his chest like a child before smirking.

"Asshole."

Marco grabbed Jean's face and pecked him on the lips, "But I'm your asshole," Marco said with a smile, causing a couple of others to 'aw', "I guess it's my turn then," Marco darted his eyes around to the people surrounded by the fire He landed eyes on Eren and noticed he was still staring at y/n's empty space. He looked over at Jean and he nodded his head, "Eren."

(Eren's pov)

I slowly lifted my head up to look at Marco, "Yeah?"

"Were you not paying attention?"

"Uh, no...sorry," I replied, rubbing the back of my neck with my hand.

"We're just playing truth or dare."

"Oh, then truth."

Everyone turned their heads towards me like they already knew what Marco was going to ask me, "How do you feel about y/n?"

I froze, "So you do like her!" Hanji exclaimed which made me flinch, "I knew it!"

"It's a little more than that," I tried to mutter to myself.

"What was that, Anger Issues?" Jean asked with a smirk,

"Shit," I thought, "It was nothing," I managed to reply calmly.

"Really? 'Cus I thought I heard you say it was a little more than that," Jean smirked again, "Are you saying that you're in love with my sister?"

I tensed again, but I started to blush, hiding in the blanket I was in, "I'm not," I said bashfully.

"You so are!" Hanji cried out, "Go confess to her!"

"Hey, we're playing truth or dare. I can't just leave!" I yelled out, trying to get myself out of confessing to her.

"Sure you can! We can still play without you!"

"Tsk, fine," I said, rolling my eyes before standing up and walking towards our spot, the way y/n went.

What I saw there, tore my heart in half. Y/n was laying down on Levi's lap as he stroked her hair. She was playing with Levi's free hand as they talked. Talking about what, I don't know. Hell, I don't even know why they are the way they are. I walked a little closer to them to hear y/n's sniffles as she talked. Of course, to my luck, I only heard the last part of their conversation, which once again, was my name, and that's all I heard...but I walked closer to them to hear more of their conversation, "You know I love you, right?" I heard y/n say, and my heart broke even more.

"Yeah, yeah. I love you, too," Levi chuckled as he kissed her forehead, "I should probably go back to the rest. There's someone behind you who I think wants to talk to you," He chuckled again before looking back at me. I tensed when y/n looked back at me. How am I going to confess to her now?

(Your pov)

I sat on the cliff when I heard footsteps behind me. I looked behind me, hoping that it would be Eren, but I looked behind me to see Levi, "Hey, he said quietly as he sat next to me.

"Hey," I said just as quiet, my face in my knees.

"Are you okay?"

"I guess so. I was just kind of mad at Eren for making everybody laugh at me. I don't think he remembers how much I hate being laughed at."

"I know. I'm really sorry for him. He didn't mean to hurt you, I can tell you that. There's something about him that he hasn't told you yet which is why he acts the way he does."

"And what is that?"

"I can't necessarily tell you. It's something he has to tell you yourself and it'll mean so much more. I promise."

I thought long and hard about what Levi said. I pushed Levi's legs flat as I laid my head on Levi's lap, "Alright. Thank you, Levi."

"I'm sorry about not taking you in as a child."

"It's okay, Levi. It wasn't your fault. I know your mom despised my parents. You were the only one that cared, but you were outnumbered. The majority wanted me to die out in the cold," I paused as I started to sniffle, "But, it ended up good in the end. I met the love of my life...although he may not feel the same way about me."

"And who is this 'love of your life'?" He asked with a smirk.

"Eren. Eren Jaeger."

(So this next chapter or the chapter after that will be the last one. I'm going to stop at chapter 10 I believe that will be a good spot to end it on, and because this one doesn't get much reads, but yeah lol.) (P.s., sorry for any unintentional mistakes.)
