Anyway, I’m not gonna bore you with the boring stuff, so let’s skip forward about a month or two and really get into it XD . I’m walking with one of my first ‘London friends’, Lily, to work. She’s in the same department as me so that makes things a hell of a lot easier. “Lily! Boss wants to see you.” Jake calls as soon as we enter the building. ‘Seriously?! We just got here!’ I think to myself as we head off in different directions. ‘Oh no!’ I think and close my eyes in annoyance. Derek, a complete creep who is constantly hitting on me and is creepily watching and staring at me. Trying to avoid him I look to the right as I pass him. But of course that has to fail! I’m guessing it’s his hand because suddenly something grabs mine. I rip it from their grasp, not wanting to be touched by someone as creepy as him. Okay, I know I’m saying creepy a lot… but it’s all true!! He’s a complete creep!! “Sorry, but I was wondering if you wanted to go out with me after work. You’ve been working non-stop and… I think you should have at least a little bit of fun.” He says with a wink that sends chills down my spine… and I don’t mean that in a good way either. “Thanks for the thought and invite, but I’m sorry, Derek. I… I’ve already made plans.” I excuse myself and continue to my desk. “How about tomorrow? Are you free then?” He persists. ‘Oh, God! What do I say?’ “Um… I think I’m free…” I mumble but jump in my seat as he loudly claps his hands together in joy. “Ok. I’ll pick you up at six.” He informs me before leaving. I haven’t even told him where I live yet. I’m not gonna tell him that though.
I print off the last of the financial reports for a business and walk it to a filing cabinet on the other side of the office. I turn and bump into my mentor from my first two weeks. “Oh, hi, Josh. Sorry about that.” I laugh as I pick up the papers he dropped because of me. “Nah, that’s fine. Anyway, now that I’ve found you. Me and Lily are going out tonight after work to cool off and let off some steam. Do you wanna come?” He asks with a friendly smile. He and Lily are my closest friend here. “Yea. Are we leaving right after work?” I question and he answers with a nod. “Okay, I’ll meet you guys out the front.” I call cheerfully and head back to my desk. “Hey.” “Mmm.” I say, turning to whoever called me. Oh guess who it was. No really. Guess... Derek… Surprising, I know! “Are you and Josh… like… you know… together?” He asks with a hurt expression on his face. I actually feel sorry for him. “No, we’re just good friends. Are you ok, Derek?” I reply. His face automatically lights up at my words making me look at him weirdly. “So, what did you have planned for tonight? Maybe I could help.” He said eagerly making me uncomfortable. “I…” I start and look over at Josh who was typing away at his computer. “I thought you guys weren’t a thing.” He says, slowly getting angered. “We’re not.” I defended beginning to get scared. “Well then why are you going out with him?” I felt like I was getting interrogated. He stalked forward, cornering me as he towered over me menacingly. One thing I hate about being short… you can’t stare someone down unless it’s like a kid! Ugh! “It doesn’t mean anything Derek.” I say as I start to shrink under him. “Sami? Uh… What are you doing, Derek?” Josh! My saviour! My eyes darted to his, screaming ‘help’. “Do you have a thing for Sami?” He smiles and Derek automatically backs off, stuttering like a fool. “I-I-I… I uhhh… I need to get back to work.” He stammered and sped off. “Oh my gosh, thank you so much Josh.” I said and giggled. “Anyway, I’ll see you tonight out the front… No wait, I’ll come to your desk.” He decided, obviously thinking cautiously about me. “Thankyou.”
