999 Operatives Remaining

Benny and Greyson walked the streets of Atlanta's busy cityscape, their squads following behind them. Although they were ordered to remain inconspicuous, that request was hard to uphold when Benny and Greyson's subordinates wore their entire military fatigue set. Of course, they did not know any better. The squad members never received orders directly from Numero, and would only go off of what their respective squad leaders would brief them on.

"Sorta sucks we're on patrol. I wanted to test out my new gear." Greyson said, waving the taser glove around.

Operative Four-Fifteen heard this and frowned, gritting his teeth.

"I understand, really. Soon there'll be another opportunity for a raid, and when there is, you'll be the first to know." Benny responded, looking around at the civilians that sparsely populated the sidewalks.

Numero had sent out his first fifteen squads for patrolling of the Atlanta area. He always wanted to have frequent reports on the status of the city. The information helped him plan for any attacks he would receive intel for, from the Cyber Eyes. Usually patrols would only consist of five or less squads, however, in this time of heightened danger, he wanted groups of three squads to travel together.

Benny looked to the other sidewalk, where Operative Six, a sharp-featured Korean girl, walked with her squad following behind her. She looked over to Benny, nodding to him before her eyes widened. She pointed ahead of Benny. When he turned his head he saw what she referred to. Two squads of six LIF soldiers walked towards Benny and Greyson's squads. Unlike the Numero Operatives, LIF soldiers bore their black and red body armor, and brandished their assault rifles, causing civilians to take alternate routes as to avoid any form of contact with them. Greyson nodded to Benny, before beckoning for both squads to duck into an alleyway. Benny's squad followed Greyson into the alley. Benny however, stood still, touching his earpiece.

"Six, we are going to take an alternate route to get to the mall. You still remember how to get there from your side?" Benny said, his back turned to the approaching LIF soldiers.

"Affirmative, but Benny they are right on top of you." Operative Six responded, with worry in her voice.

Benny turned around to twelve people upon him. One soldier wearing sunglasses and no helmet stepped in front, eyeing Benny up and down. "It's good to see that both sides are on patrol for each other."

Benny stood up straight, staring into the lenses of the glasses. "Yeah, I guess that is good. Wouldn't want any situations to arise, would we?" Benny responded, tilting his head.

"No we would not. Not with civilians around."

"Ha, that's strange. It always seemed like LIF operated without any regard to civilians."

"When it comes to the mission, it will always come first against the people."

"And that is why you won't win this war." Benny clenched his fists. The shaded soldier noticed this and chuckled.

"Well," He started, stepping to Benny. "May the best man win." He offered his hand.

The two shook hands, before the shaded soldier commanded for the squads to move out. They marched around Benny, and continued down the road.

Operative Six and her squad stood with their weapons pointed towards Benny, just in case a conflict began. Benny looked over to her, waving his hand that all is well.

Six nodded in response, beckoning for her squad to follow her across a crosswalk to link back up with Benny. Once she was across the street, she sprinted to Benny, rapidly checking him for any marks. "Did they touch you at all? Are you okay? You weren't pricked with anything were you?" She asked rapidly.
