Chapter 5 - Training Camp

  The students of class 1-1 talked quietly among themselves as they waited for their teacher to enter. [F/N] sat at his desk, chatting with a few of his class mates to pass the time. It was pretty peaceful until Hinata charged in.
   "[N/N]! TODAYS THE START OF THE TRAINING CAMP!" the orange haired boy shouted excitedly. Normally [F/N] was relatively quiet during class. But today he was as excited and jittery as Hinata. "I know! I cant wait for it to start and see where we're gonna stay!" the taller boy exclaimed and his classmates shot him curios stares.
   Before [F/N] and Hinata could start talking all about the training camp their teacher walked in. She shot them a look and said "please settle down boys, class is starting". Quickly they both sat down and tried to focus their minds on the lesson.
   Unfortunately the day passed excruciatingly slow and by the time the two first year volleyball players made it to the gym, they were very eager to get started. When [F/N] entered the locker room he saw that Noya and Tanaka were already changing. "[N/N] are you excited for the training camp?" asked Noya immediately.
   "Absolutely" responded [F/N] with a nod. "We're going to be in such close proximity with our lovely Kiyoko! It'll be amazing!" said Tanaka dreamily.
   [F/N] snickered and said "wow Tanaka I didn't realize you knew big words like proximity". This earned him a smack upside the head. "Respect your senpai" the bald wing spiker said indignantly before leaving to go help set up the gym. Noya waited for [F/N] to finish changing and they left the locker room together.
   Once the nets were set up Coach Ukai called the players over to him. "As you all know, we have a practice match with Nekoma at the end of this camp" the dyed blonde said seriously. These words made [F/N] shiver with excitement but he quickly remembered that he might not even get a chance to play, since he was only an extra player.
I'll just have to practice really hard to earn my spot as a regular thought he with determination. "Alright now get to practicing, we've got a lot of work to do!" ordered Ukai and the team dispersed to begin.
   All through out practice, [F/N] pushed himself extra hard and the effort showed. By the end he was exhausted and extremely hungry but it was worth it. "Hey good job during practice today, you seem to be working really hard" said a voice from behind him as someone put their hand on his shoulder.
   Turning to see the silver haired setter, [F/N] smiled and said "thanks Sugawara!" who returned the smile and said "keep it up and you might be a regular some day". With that they both headed to the locker room to clean up.
   Once the whole team was dressed in casual clothes and had their bags, they all headed over to where they'd be staying for the next few nights. Immediately Hinata took off and began running around throwing open doors. He looked just like a kid on Christmas morning opening his presents.
"Uuwwwaaahhh! This place is amazing" the small middle blocker said enthusiastically. Kageyama sighed and rolled his eyes, saying "calm down Dumbass". With a laugh [F/N] came to his friends defense and said "let him have some fun Kags".
Although the grumpy setter scowled slightly at the use of the nickname, he didn't tell [F/N] off like he would have with the others. Soon every began taking turns to bathe. Naturally the first years had to go last.
[F/N] had been walking through the hallways, talking with Tanaka when they came across Hinata. The small orange haired teen was standing creepily at the end of a hallway.
"Um Hinata...." questioned Tanaka as he stared at his underclassmen.
"There's someone among us" Hinata answered as he stared wide eyed at the two other players.
Laughing nervously Tanaka said "that can't be, you must have just seen your reflection in a window".
"It was a child" said the short player, his words sending shivers up [F/N]'s spine.
"I'm sure it was just a mistake.... just a mistake" muttered Tanaka with an edge of nervousness in his voice.
Suddenly they heard the sound of a foot step behind them. All three boys turned around and screamed loudly. [F/N] quickly stopped though, upon realizing it was only Noya. Once Hinata and Tanaka realized this they burst out laughing and began teasing the libero.
Then something loomed out of the dark and put a hand on Noya's shoulder. "Quiet down or Daichi will get mad" said Asahi in his deep voice, looking really scary with his hair down and face shadowed by the lack of light. Of course they all screamed again.
"HEY BE QUIET" shouted Daichi from across the building.
   The next few days went by really fast, and the entire team was working really hard. One afternoon they all went out jogging, [F/N] kept pace with the second years. He laughed a little as he watched Hinata and Kageyama race ahead, trying to out do each other.
   However as they continued along the route the team eventually caught up to Kageyama but there was no sign of the small middle blocker. "Hey Kags where's Hinata?" asked [F/N] as he approached the genius setter.
   Kageyama simply shrugged and walked off unhelpfully. So with a sigh [F/N] went to Sugawara. "Hey I still don't see Hinata anywhere, should we go look for him?" asked the younger player. The silver haired setter nodded and glanced at Daichi who nodded as well. "Every split up and go search for Hinata, and make sure you don't get lost as well" said the captain loudly.
   Immediately [F/N] began wandering around the streets. It was pretty quiet out today so he was surprised when he turned a corner and suddenly bumped into someone. "Ah I'm sorry-" the Karasuno player began to apologize but suddenly froze.
   "Hey your from Nekoma!" [F/N] exclaimed while staring at the male standing before him. He was tall with a slim but muscular frame and had narrowed hazel eyes that resembled a cats. The stranger also had awful bedhead that made his black hair stick up in all directions.
   "Yes I am, how observant of you" purred the tall male.
   "My name's [L/N] [F/N] and I'm a volleyball player at Karasuno" stated [F/N] as he held out his hand. The stranger reached out and shook it while saying, "where are my manners! I'm Kuroo Tetsurou, the captain of Nekomas volleyball team."
   This surprised [F/N] greatly and it showed on his face, making Kuroo smirk. "No need to look so surprised, anyway how come your at Karasuno? I heard about your middle school days, so I'm sure you could have attended any school you wanted" said the scheming captain.
   "Cause I want to be that's why, anyway I'm looking for my teammate. He's short with orange hair, have you seen him?" responded [F/N] evenly.
   "Sorry if that question bothered you, anyway I'm looking for my teammate as well, how about we look for them together" suggested Kuroo. Although [F/N] wasn't sure if he trusted this guy, he decided to play along. So they set out together, walking through the streets and talking.
   After getting to know the other teenager a bit better, [F/N] decided he liked him. Kuroo was pretty funny and sarcastic, often messing with the shorter player. Little did he know that Kuroo was quiet fond of him as well.
   Eventually they turned a corner and caught sight of two short figures sitting by a fence. Immediately [F/N] ran over and said "Hinata you idiot! I've been looking all over for you". With an innocent look of surprise the orange haired player turned to face his friend. "Haha whoops I got lost" he said while rubbing his neck apologetically.
   "No shit" grumbled [F/N] as he glanced over at the boy Hinata had been talking too. Just like Kuroo the teenager had on red track pants and a black shirt......... he also had awful hair. It had been dyed blonde but the roots had grown out so much you could clearly see that his hair had once been black. Not to mention it was so greasy it looked as if someone had glued his hair flat to his head.
   "Kenma c'mon" said Kuroo as he motioned to the smaller cat like male. With a sigh Kenma stood up and shuffled over to his captain while saying "bye Hinata".
   With his shit eating grin on, Kuroo came up behind [F/N] and said "I'll see you soon". Out of view from the other two, one of his long fingered hands trailed down to [F/N]'s nice round butt and squeezed. "Nice ass babe" he whispered in the other boys ear so that no one else could hear.
   As Kuroo stepped away [F/N] turned to face him, fighting to keep the surprise and blush off his face. "I'll look for forward to our next meeting" he responded while shooting Kuroo a mischievous look that made it clear he'd get revenge soon.
   With that they parted ways and headed back to their respective teams. Of course Hinata got scolded once the two met back up with the other Karasuno boys. Daichi was pretty pissed so the team stayed quiet and well behaved on the way back.
   This left [F/N] with plenty of time to think about his encounter with the scheming captain. Kuroo sure is an interesting guy...... I'll make sure to talk to him after the practice match.
