Ellie's P.O.V.

After what felt like an eternity of fierce fighting, the rogues finally started to falter, their strength waning with each passing moment. One by one, they began retreating, following their leader as he ordered the fallback. My neck throbbed with pain, but I refused to let a sound escape my lips. I'd endured deep wounds before, but nothing quite like this. My arm was also dislocated, a bone I'd have to wait to pop back in—it would be excruciating, but for now, I'd tough it out.As the rogues pulled back, their leader stopped just short of vanishing into the shadows, turning to look at us. His gaze fell squarely on Jacob, the future Alpha, with a twisted expression that chilled me. There was recognition there—an unsettling familiarity that made his eyes gleam with hatred.

"Jacob Samuels?" he sneered, the name sliding off his tongue like venom. His lip curled in a cruel smile as he stepped closer, and every instinct in me screamed to attack. The other warriors stiffened, forming a protective barrier around Jacob, the midnight-blue wolf. Jacob's eyes narrowed as he took in the rogue, but he remained calm and steadfast.

"You look surprised to see me, Jacob," the rogue continued, his voice dripping with malice. "For a second, I almost didn't recognize you. But here you are, still the same self-righteous fool you always were." His smirk widened, and Jacob's expression darkened, but he said nothing."Kyle Turner," Jacob replied finally, his voice low and steady, acknowledging the man in front of him.

"Yes, so you do remember me," Kyle said, his voice sharpening. "Good. Because I certainly haven't forgotten *you*. But tell me, Jacob, do you remember *Ashley*?" His tone became mocking, taunting, as he spoke the name slowly, each syllable laced with bitter anger. "The one you claimed to love? The one you were *supposed* to protect?" He took a step closer, his gaze seething with barely controlled fury.

Jacob's jaw clenched, but he held his ground. "Of course I remember her. She was—""*Don't* you dare finish that sentence!" Kyle snarled, his eyes blazing. "You don't deserve to say her name. You were supposed to be there for her, to keep her safe! But you weren't. You left her to die alone." He spat the words out, each one a lash of anger, and Jacob's face tightened with unspoken remorse.

"You think you were some noble protector?" Kyle sneered. "You were a coward. You were weak, and she paid the price for it. She trusted you, and you let her die."

"Kyle, you don't know the whole story," Jacob said, his voice quiet but firm, a rare flicker of emotion crossing his face. But Kyle only laughed, a sound that was harsh and empty."Oh, I know *enough,* Jacob. Enough to hate you. Enough to make you pay for every second of suffering she endured because of you." His face twisted with fury, and his voice dropped to a low, venomous tone. "I've spent years preparing for this day, waiting for the chance to make you suffer the way she did. I'm not the weak one here, Jacob. Not anymore."Jacob held his gaze, his eyes steady, but I could sense the tension building between them. Kyle took a slow, threatening step forward, his hand flexing as if itching to strike.

"You think you're so strong now, don't you?" Kyle hissed, his eyes glittering with malevolence. "But I'll show you what true strength looks like. You've seen nothing of what I'm capable of, Jacob. Nothing. You may have rebuilt your little pack, but it's only a matter of time before I tear it all down—piece by piece, until there's nothing left."

The threat hung in the air, thick with hatred. Kyle leaned in, his voice dropping to a chilling whisper. "Remember this day, Jacob. I won't be far. You'll look over your shoulder, wondering when I'll strike, and trust me—I'll be there. Watching. Waiting." He took a step back, his gaze shifting, briefly, to me. I stiffened, a growl slipping from my throat, warning him to stay back. The pain in my body was intense, but my instinct to protect was stronger.
