It was throughout the history of shifters that there hadn’t been anyone like him. He was unique, special, but most of all he was the most powerful wolf to of ever lived. He went by many names, some awful, some frightening, but his name was anything but fearsome… it was Gabriel and it was beautiful.

Other packs avoided Gabriel as he was the alpha of Lunam Tripudiantes, Latin for Moon Dancers. His packs' name was beautiful, but his pack was not. Whilst they were like any other pack they also had strong, stealthy but most of all dangerous warriors - ready to be commanded at Gabriel’s orders. Well that was what the rumours spoke. I ignored rumours, except those about the beauty of Gabriel. Though he is the most dangerous shifter to live, people still speak of his beauty. They say he is a tall intimidating man, with broad shoulders and tantalizing olive skin. They never speak of anything else, but they often say strong men whimper in his presence.

After all this you could imagine my fear when my brother announced we were moving to his pack permanently. My mother committed suicide after my father was killed by Rouges, leaving my brother Adrian to be my guardian. He was 18 at the time, whereas I was 15. Three years on my brother and I had constantly been moving from pack to pack, my brother trying to find his mate while I just wanted the comfort of a friend. Eventually Gabriel’s pack was the only we hadn’t joined, so we decided it would become our permanent home; mate or not. When I turned 17 I started to look for my mate too, much to the displeasure of my overprotective brother, but when he decided we’d join  Lunam Tripudiantes, there was a feeling in my stomach and my wolf roused;                                    ‘This is it, I can feel it. Our mate is here’.

So on our final day at our previous pack, Adrian spoke to Gabriel’s beta working out arrangements and finally telling me we would be accepted and a car was coming for us today. We packed in silence and kept our goodbyes to ourselves, we hadn’t any friends and people didn’t care of our departure. My packing didn’t take long as I didn’t care for many clothes, only my large collection of novels; my prized possessions. As I was packing the last few books away, a car beeped loudly outside showing the attitude of our new pack.

“Charlotte, they’re here,” Adrian spoke softly as I nodded numbly. Whilst Adrian was showing no fear I was trembling from it. Why had the rumours never spoke of people this pack didn’t like? Maybe then I would’ve listened.

I looked up gently smiling at my dear brother, my eyes sweeping over his shambolic appearance. His once warm brown eyes were of no more; instead they showed sadness and tiredness. His unkempt black hair told me our joining this pack took more of a toll of him than he let out; this was his last chance to find his mate or else she was dead or a rogue.

Following Adrian we both moved silently down the stairs, smiling at the pack we passed but not speaking. We were not always shy and soft-spoken people.

Once outside we were presented with a man in his early twenties, openly staring at us with a bored expression. He was handsome to say the least, but he was large and that scared me. Looking over Adrian and I he finally spoke up, stepping forward to us. “Hello, you must be Adrian and Charlotte Grice. My name is Samuel and I’m Gabriel’s third in command.” He shook Adrian’s hand first then came to me, giving me a warm smile and softly shaking my hand. “Please put your bags in the car and I’ll go find my sister Adelaide, she’s wondered off somewhere,” he grumbled walking off.

 We did as Samuel said and waited; leaning against the car every now and then giving each other reassuring looks. We waited for about 10 minutes when Samuel can back dragging a girl who looked a few years older than me. They were obviously siblings, with the same dirty blond hair, hazel eyes and straight noses. When she came closer she froze suddenly, making her brother stumble a bit. I was confused at her abruptness when I heard Adrian whisper something next to me;

“Mate”

One second they were looking at each other with love, the next Adelaide was sprinting suddenly jumping on my brother; causing them to both fall back onto the dirt, laughing like school kids. No words were spoken as they looked in each other’s eyes with joy.

“God you’re beautiful,” Adrian murmured making Adelaide blush.

Unexpectedly Adelaide started kissing Adrian and that was my cue to look away. I could feel my cheeks getting warm as I walked to Samuel, letting Adrian and Adelaide have some time alone. I expected Samuel to be acting a little protective. I mean, he was a huge guy and this is his baby sister, but when I glanced up at him I only say happiness and amusement evident on his face.

“She deserves this,” Samuel spoke to me when he felt my gaze. “She’s wanted her mate forever and now she does and god; she looks so happy.”

I smiled softly at his kind words and turned to see Adrian and Adelaide now standing, but still holding each other.

“The reason we moved was because Adrian has been searching everywhere for his mate, I have too but I’m happy for Adrian at the moment,” I say looking up at Samuel as he nods at my response.

“You’ll find him here, have hope,” he whispers in my ear before leaving to tell my brother and Adelaide we were leaving now.  If everyone was like Samuel and Adelaide, then the rumours were seriously wrong.

The car rude took a total of 5 hours; the first two spent getting to know each other. I learnt Adelaide was a year older than me at the age of 19 and Samuel was 21, the same age as Adrian and apparently Gabriel. I found that Adelaide was a bubbly and outspoken person, but also very kind, the perfect person for my brother. Whilst I studied Adelaide I found her to be extremely outgoing and very playful, whereas Samuel was her polar opposite: quiet and attentive.

I was sitting up front with Samuel who was driving, while Adrian and Adelaide were in the back still swept in each other’s arms. Putting a piece of my black hair behind my hair I looked out the window, watching the trees roll past us. Soon enough drowsiness controlled me, my eyes gently closing sleep consuming me not before hearing Adelaide giggle at Adrian for the 100th time.

A time after, I woke to find Adrian carrying me down a hallway and into a bedroom. My new bedroom. Adelaide walked next to her mate, smiling down at me as she saw me wake up.

“Goodnight Charlotte,” She whispers as Adrian put me on the bed and covered me in a blanket. Too tired to reply, I half smiled, watching them walk out hand-in-hand. Tomorrow I would be meeting Lunam Tripudiantes’s Alpha. I would be meeting Gabriel, the most feared werewolf to of ever lived.

Hopefully, he didn’t want to kill me.
