Chapter 10: Waking Up to a Nightmare

Barry woke up to the ground. He felt like sobbing. Why was he still in this nightmare!?

He almost missed Zoom.

Almost.

He lifted his head to see Caitlin, Joe, Wally, Len, Iris, Lisa, Mick, and Cisco standing outside of the cell. 

"What do you want?" Wally asked. "I mean, you seem to enjoy making us feel like shit, so is that it? Do you just hate us?"

Barry wanted to sob, but Zoom had hardened him.

He couldn't cry if he wanted to.

So, he chose silence.

Wally stepped up to the cell, and banged on it. Barry didn't flinch. "WHAT DO YOU WANT WITH MY FAMILY!?!??" Wally screamed. Again, Barr didn't flinch.

Suddenly, Wally opened the cell, and walked right up to him. (Barry is still sitting on the floor)

Barry didn't make any move to get up. 

Suddenly, Wally slapped him. He didn't even take notice. 

He thought back to when Zoom would slap him...

"You don't deserve to be alive," Zoom had hissed, and Barry believed him.

He didn't. 

He was lucky. 

And he didn't deserve this luck.

Barry looked down at his hand, and tried to vibrate it. 

It didn't work. Maybe they had some speed dampener or something?...

"Why aren't you running?" Wally demanded. "Because I have nowhere to go," Barry said.

It was true. He had nothing, even if this wasn't a drug-induced world.

"Do you still think that we're all hallucinations?" Caitlin asked. Barry nodded.

Iris broke into tears and ran out of the room. Joe and Lisa left to comfort her. Mick walked away because he was bored.

"Barry... Why did you provoke Killer Frost yesterday?" Cisco asked. "And me?" 

Barry chuckled dryly. "Wouldn't you like to know," he said. 

Suddenly, Len walked up to his cell, pushed past Wally, and kissed Barry. Barry immediately responded, kissing back, and he felt something inside him break.

The flood gates opened.

Len pulled away, and hugged Barry while Barry cried into his shoulder. "Did that feel fake?" Len whispered into Barry's ear.

Barry shook his head.

Maybe this was the real world.

Maybe.

As Barry slept that night, he couldn't help but dream of that kiss.

One thing he hd missed? Len.
