"Destiny!" The jolly voice of my brother greeted me as I walked in the door. He hugged me as I took a moment to take in what was happening.

"Robert?" I looked up confused.

"That's me!" He grinned down at me but his expression soon dropped when he looked at me closer,"What's up?"

I shook my head,"School things."

"Okay, uh..." He looked back at the table where his wife Lexy and my mom were watching. "You don't mind if Destiny and I go out for a bit, do you?" He asked them.

"We don't need to," I told him.

"That'd be fine," Lexy smiled.

"Destiny, set your bag down and let's go," Robert told me.

"We don't have to go," I repeated.

"We do, now hurry up," He moved aside to let me go put my bag away.

I ran upstairs to my room, set my bag down, and was going to put on some chap stick when I realized that it was nowhere to be found. "Huh, weird," I was a little confused but ignored it and returned downstairs.

"Come on," Robert opened the door.

"I'm going," I told him, walking outside. I walked over to his car and got in the passenger seat.

Robert got in seconds later, turned on the car and then began pulling out.

After a little I asked,"Where are we going?"

"The mall," He replied.

"Why?" I asked.

"You looked like you need someone to talk to," He told me.

I looked over out the window, watching the scenery go by,"I've talked to you about Thomas before, right?"

"You've said something at least once," He nodded,"He's the kid you've known since elementary school, right?"

"Yeah," I nodded. I paused for a long time, trying to get words to come out of my mouth. "He... He told me that he likes me," I said quietly.

Robert's eyes got really big,"Really? Well how do you feel about him?"

"I've always just thought of him as a friend, and not even that all the time, he's always been annoying to me," I admitted, feeling guilty saying it out loud.

"Have you told him that?" He asked.

"No..." I shook my head.

"Why not?" He questioned.

"Cause I like hanging out with him and I don't want to ruin that entirely," I told him.

"Well I think that not saying anything would do the same. Just tell him that you don't see him in that way and say that if he'd be comfortable with it you'd still like to be friends," Robert suggested, pulling into the mall parking lot.

"But it's not that simple," I insisted," It's so awkward."

Robert sighed,"I understand that, I just think that it'd be the easiest way to solve this." He parked the car and we got out. "So are there any guys you do like?" He smirked at me.

"Nope, most of the guys are annoying and those that aren't are either taken or not my type," I replied.

"Oh? What is your type?" He inquired.

"I dunno," I shrugged,"All I really know is what isn't my type."

"You should probably figure that out then," He said, opening the door for me.

"Why? You didn't like anyone until you were 17," I said back.

"But other guys move faster. They'll be like Thomas and ask you out now and you should be able to tell them what you would expect of them. That's what Lexy did and see how we worked out?" He said.

I glanced down at the cement floor of the mall. Why would Thomas even like me? Why didn't he choose someone else? Like Jasmine or someone more on his level?

"Anyways, how's Gabby doing?" Robert asked, switching the topic away from guys.

"She's good," I smiled up at him. I started explaining the situation with her and Noah as we walked.
