-- BRENDON'S POV --
My morning classes passed at an agonizingly slow pace and I was now seated at a lunch table with Riley, Patrick, Pete, Gerard, Tyler, Josh, and Riley's current boyfriend Nick. There was something about Nick that told me he wasn't going to last as long as some of her previous boyfriend's despite the fact she just started dating him three days ago. I talked to Patrick about it and we both agreed that he would only make it a week tops.
"Riley, Nick, opinions on cereal," Pete asked without any prior explanation to why he was asking, an intrigued expression forming as he leaned forward with excitement.
There was no hesitation when Gerard rolled his eyes and groaned, "Drop it, Wentz. No one likes cereal as much as you do."
Rolling his eyes in return Pete disregarded what Gerard said and returned his attention to the duo he addressed before. "Is it bad, good, or great? And you can't say you don't know."
"Uuuuh.... It's okay?" Nick questioned. Pete looked quite disappointed in him but that wasn't new.
"I think it's great," Riley mused with a smile soft smile crossing her lips and Pete nodded, obviously feeling valid.
"Don't encourage him," Gerard said with a huff. "The only thing he's texted me about for the last week is my opinion on different types of cereal. Every time I respond with the same two words; soggy wheat."
"Can you at least tell us why you're suddenly obsessed with cereal?" Tyler asked.
Pulling out his phone, Pete nodded, "Ok, ok, look at this." The screen was lit up with the picture of a cereal box that was rolled shut.
"W-who is that strong?" Tyler asked.
"Josh is!" Pete exclaimed, and Josh puffed out his chest, a proud smile displayed.
Everyone at the table laughed aside from Nick who looked embarrassed to be around all of us. I really, really I don't like the kid and I can't wait for her to ditch him. I don't know exactly why I don't like him. He just has that type of vibe that makes you want to hit him in the face. And his stern personality doesn't really help ease that feeling any more than his black hair that he spiked up with an obviously large amount of products.
Nick's nose scrunched up in disgust before he asked Riley, "What the fuck is wrong with them?" His comment killing the laughter at the table. I could see Pete's jaw clench. He was going to say something until Patrick nudged him and whispered in his ear a reminder about how close he was to being expelled.
Brushing my brown hair from my eyes my gaze adverted to Riley before asking, "Are you still coming over tonight?"
"Yeah, we're taking your car, right?" She asked while nodding eagerly.
I nodded to confirm our plans. I couldn't help but notice Nick beside her, he was staring at me with daggers in his eyes. If looks could kill, I would definitely be dead. The corners of my lips tugged up in a slightly devious grin. There was no way I was about to let this scrawny douche intimidate me, and I think he may have known it because he became even more upset before standing up and walking away from the table. Jokes on him, I have no idea how to fight and I am also a scrawny douche.
Riley turned, her gaze falling upon Nick as he walked away and she rolled her eyes before turning back to the table, "What the hell was his problem?"
I would have answered, but I was too busy trying not to break out laughing at how childish he was. He definitely wasn't going to make it until Friday, and considering it's only Tuesday. I can't believe he actually threw a bitchfit because he thinks I'm stepping up on his girlfriend. She's been my best friend since elementary school. Plus, knowing Riley, I know she's not attracted to guys with horrible personalities and she'll realize this is how he's always been. Honestly, his jealousy was almost adorable. It was similar to a little kid stomping around because they didn't get the exact candy they wanted at the store.
Shaking my head, I decided to try to change the subject. "Alright, ignoring the fact that just happened, yeah we can take my car."
"Why don't you two just date already?" Patrick asked obviously upset. He would always get worked up like this, but it was usually when Riley wasn't around.
I had to fight back a blush from pigmenting my cheeks. Knitting my brows together I hissed, "We're just friends, Stump. Lay off."
"Just friends," Trick grunted but didn't say anything else about it which once he dropped it so did everyone else, including Riley who just ignored the whole exchange but you could tell she looked slightly distraught.
I adore that kid but some times he was a little too jealous of Riley which always got on my nerve considering his feelings for her were unrequited. She liked the bad guys, he was much too innocent to peak her interest. But then again, so am I.
