Chapter Four

Vanessa's POV

                I sat there completely shocked. "What are you doing here?" I managed to utter out to Louis. "Me? I live next door! The real question is what are you doing here?" "Well I was hanging out with Zayn until you guys came along." Things were getting awkward now. "Uh, Louis? Can I speak to you outside?" asked Zayn. Louis, still recovering from shock, just nodded his head and went outside with Zayn. The blonde haired guy and the curly haired guy each took a seat on either side of me. They sat there staring at me, grinning. Well this was uncomfortable. "Hi, are you friends of Zayn too?" They just nodded simultaneously. "Oh okay. Well my name's Vanes---" "Oh we already know." stated the curly haired one. He had the same green eyes as me. "Are you Zayn's new girlfriend?" blurted out the blonde haired one. "Girlfriend?" I scoffed. "Nooo, we're just friends that's all." The curly haired one looked over at the blonde haired one and they both started laughing. "Sorry if we're making you feel awkward. The name's Harry." the curly haired one said with a wink. Huge flirt. "And my name's Niall!" said the blonde haired one said, flashing his braces. He was smiling so hard with his eyes closed; I thought his face was going to end up stuck like that. "Aren't you adorable?!" I said, messing up Niall's hair. Niall started to blush and looked bashfully up at me.

                 "How do you know Louis?" Harry asked me. "He's friends with my friend, Melissa Benson." I made air quotes when I said "friends." "Right, the really sweet girl that Louis' all over." When he said that, I started dying of laughter. At that same moment, Zayn and Louis walked in. "What are you two doing to Vanessa?" asked Zayn annoyed. "No, it's fine Zayn. They're cool!" I said recovering from my fit of laughter, wiping a tear away from my eye. "Come on Niall and Haz, we're leaving." said Louis from the door. "We're just now getting to know her!" whined Harry. Louis made a reproachful face at Harry. "Fine." Harry and Niall got up and made their way towards the door. "Bye guys!" I said giggling and waving at them. Niall's cheeks turned a bright shade of pink again as he waved and said "Bye Vanessa!" "Have fun!" Louis called out. "Come on lads." Louis started to pull Harry outside the door but not without him saying one last thing. "I forgot to ask if you have a boyfriend!" "HARRY." Louis scolded and closed the door. Then Zayn and I heard Harry and Niall yell "VANESSAAAAA!" outside the door.

                I started dying of laughter again. "Your friends are hilarious!" I told Zayn, gasping for air. Zayn just stood there awkwardly. "Do you?..." he asked looking at me. "Do I what?" I asked confused. "You know... Have a boyfriend?..." I could feel my cheeks burning at this question. I have always hated being asked this. It made me feel awkward. "Oh... No. No I don't." He just nodded his head. "Cool. I mean not that it's cool being single, I mean unless you like being single but what I meant---" "I know what you mean." I said cutting him off, laughing. We just looked into each other's eyes for a while. "Hey Zayn! You said you can sing, right?" I said interrupting the moment. Zayn snapped back to reality. "Yeah, want me to show you?" "Please demonstrate for me." I said, crossing my legs, putting my hands over my knees. "Alright." He paused for a while and then started to sing something that I immediately recognized as a Bruno Mars song, specifically "The Lazy Song". He;s a talented singer I must say. Zayn only sang part of the song though. "Amazing!" I told him when he finished. "You're a Bruno Mars fan too?" "He's an inspiration to me!" he exclaimed. After that, we sat there at the table talking for quite a while. I looked at the time on my phone. "Hey, I think I should go home. Don't want to Melissa waiting on me." Disappointment washed over his face. "I'm sorry, I wish I could stay longer! I had so much fun with you today though!" I got up from my chair and asked for a knuckle touch. "You know, you're a cool kid, Zayn." He grinned at this. "You're not bad yourself either. Text you later." "KK" I said as I walked out the door.

Melissa's POV 

     I see my phone light up again with another text from Louis. I open it and read "I didn't know Vanessa knew Zayn." WHAT?! Neither did I..... "What are you talking about?" I replied. About a minute later I got another text which said "You didn't know? They hung out at Zayn's flat this afternoon." "No I didn't know that." I reply.

     I hear the front door open. Vanessa's home. "Hey." she said and sat down on the couch. "Hey. I didn't know you knew Zayn." "Yeah we met yesterday after Nando's. I got mad at the waitor and Zayn followed me to see if I was okay. He's so nice. He invited me to hang out at his flat today. That's where I was going when I rushed out of here this morning. I didn't know Louis knew Zayn." "Yeah they're friends." I said. Does she not know that Zayn's in the band? "Small world." she said and smiled. I guess not. "So what about you and Louis? Did he break up with his girlfriend.?" "I honestly have no idea. We have a date tomorrow night at 7 at Green Park though." "You're blushing." Vanessa said and laughed. "Shut up." I said embarrassed. Changing the subject I said "I bought a bunch of food today!" "Yes! Now we can watch movies and stuff our faces!" We both laughed as I grabbed a tub of ice cream and 2 spoons and plopped down on the couch.

*The next day*

Louis' POV

     I'm so excited for my date at the park with Melissa. I'm going to surprise her with a picnic dinner. Not the fanciest first date dinner but it works. As I'm packing the picnic basket Niall decides to pop up from behind the counter scaring me half to death. "When you see her you're gonna be like 'IT'S GOTTA BE YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU' and she'll be like 'IT'S GOTTA BE LOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU." Without saying a word I walked around the counter, picked up Niall and carried him out of the kitchen as he kicked and screamed "WHAT ABOUT OHANA?" "Directionator." he said as I closed the door in his face. I rolled my eyes but I couldn't help but laugh.

     I got to the park and set up the picnic. After I sit down I look up to see a girl on the other side of the park looking lost. She looked really cute. The girl turned around and I saw Melissa's face. She saw me and our eyes met. Did my heart just skip a beat?

Melissa's POV

     "Alright Vanessa I'm leaving to go meet Louis." I said as I grabbed my bag. "Have fun!" She said as I closed the door. I decided to wear a floral sundress with pink braided sandals. I'm so excited.

     When I got to the park I couldn't find Louis so I started looking around, probably looking like an idiot. I found him. He saw me too and started smiling. When I got closer to him I realized that he had set up a picnic. Oh my God that's so sweet.

     "You made a picnic. That's so sweet!" I said as Louis stood up to give me a hug. He smelled really good. When we sat down to eat there was only one thing on my mind. I didn't want to ask because I didn't want to be rude. It's like he read my mind because he said "So I broke up with Eleanor yesterday. Well she broke up with me." Is it bad that I was extremely happy when he said that? "Really?" I said. "Yeah. It was really awkward. I called her and told her to come over because I needed to talk to her. I opened the door and she said 'I think we should break up.' She was literally at my flat for like 5 minutes. I feel like I should be upset but I'm not at all. She's happy with that other guy and I'm happy...." he looked up at me and smiled. He doesn't like me. Does he? Why would he?

     He broke the silence by grabbing my bag and saying "Is this your camera?" "Yeah." I said as he looked through my pictures. "These are really amazing pictures!" "Thank you!" I said. "We should take our own pictures." he said as he helped me up. We started goofing around taking pictures. We made each other do stupid poses. "Work it." he'd say in the gayest voice ever. "Yeah that's hot." I'd say and burst out laughing. We would take stupid pictures of each other, stupid pictures with each other, pictures of people that we caught picking their noses, and we couldn't stop laughing the entire time. It was definitley one of the most fun nights I've had in a long time and I never wanted it to end.

     He walked me home again and when we got to my flat he looked at me and said "I had an amazing time tonight." "So did I." I said with a huge smile on my face. We hugged and I never wanted to let go. I have no idea how long it took me to get the pathetic smile off my face. Yeah I definitley like him.

Liam's POV

                Someone was knocking frantically on the door. Who could it be this late at night? I got up from bed and went to go see who it was. "Zayn what are you doing here this late a---" "Liam, Liam! Could you do me a huge favor?" "What is it?" "Can you come with me somewhere tomorrow?â" "Sure Zayn! Where t---" "Bring Danielle, too!" "Okay but can I ask why I need to bring---" "Thanks, lad!" He quickly gave me a kiss on each cheek and ran off. Okay that was weird, not to mention confusing. Where does he want me to go? And why would Zayn want me to bring Danielle along?
