Cinderella

I watched her steal through rainy August nights

Caught me under her umbrella, with blue lips

Snake bites and tongue piercings, cigerettes inviting

Made it much better to ward off the chills, her skin

Was papyrus and writing on it hard but I knew I could

She said her name was Cinderella, and I had one hour

And now she's got me wandering streets to look for her

These anonymous streets with windswept trash, seemed

More like a zoo and I caught a glimpse of her hair running through

Acryllic color signs, traffic lights, and through dimly lit alleyways

She said her name was Cinderella, and don't tell anybody

To fit her into their shoes, but she said I could if I choose

And I could picture us escaping this zoo, to the beaches

In some shoddy beach line, with her golden tanline

And the palms of her hands hindering mine from swimming

But I watched her steal through rainy August nights

Ignoring me under her umbrella, and away she goes
