"Get your sorry little a** back here you b******!" I shouted at the fleeing Ryan. He was actually pretty fast. I threw the lightsaber. good thing because I tripped. not a good thing that I tripped though. Ryan came over and stood above me, his stupid smile on his stupid smug face.
"Well, Talia. I guess the cards are lined in my favor." he sneered.
"Oh please, Tiana's the gambler." I hissed. He grabbed the lightsaber and was about to bring it down on my stomach but a flash of red bolted past his fat head. He looked up. "Dustin! What was that for?!"
"For the lies." Dustin shot again but he actually got him, in the gut. "And that was for my sister."
Ryan hunched over in pain, his hand clutching his stomach. When he removed his hand, it was bloody and red. He really needs to get better at expecting those things. The look in his eyes was weird. It was mixed with betrayal and hatred. “How dare you, you worthless worm!” he shouted. His lightsaber came to his hand and lit up his face all sinister like.
“What are you gonna do about it?” Dustin asked, pulling out his own lightsaber. Wow, lots of training done… “You were never any good at fighting.”
“You’re sounding like Talia.” Ryan spat.
“At least she makes sense.”
Then they went at it. Dustin slashed at Ryan’s already bloodied stomach. Ryan aimed for Dustin’s legs. Typical of Ryan to do that. I noticed how much blood he was losing. I’m not sure how much longer he will last. It’s trailing all across the floor.
And then Ryan fell, too much blood loss… typical. Anyway, Tiana came over and helped me up. “Well, I think it’s time we left.”
I couldn’t agree more. This place was too creepy. There was something about this place that threw me off. Not that it was Ryan’s place. No, that never throws me off, I’m too used to his creepy-ness. And then there was the roar. It was unlike anything I’ve ever heard. But apparently, Dustin knew what it was.
“We gotta move. And we gotta move fast.” He said, taking Tiana’s wrist in his hand and Tiana had my wrist in her’s and he dragged us with him.
“Why? What is it?” I asked. Then there was the booming footsteps.
“A Rancor.” He replied, not looking back but running faster. Tiana and I exchanged looks. We’ve heard of them. They’re incredibly dangerous and one almost ate Uncle Luke. I’ve heard that story a lot!
The stomps were getting closer and we ran faster. Dustin would take one hallway, then back track and take a different one, mumbling about something. I didn’t like how the footsteps were getting dramatically closer. Dustin kept looking back, with a worried expression on his face. That wasn’t helping at all.
We turned one corner and saw the huge beast. Claws, fangs, everything. It wasn’t pretty. Drool and spittle was coming from its mouth. I couldn’t believe how huge the creature was. Tiana screamed bloody murder and we ran away. The thing came at us, swinging its huge claws at us. I couldn’t tell if it was a boy or a girl. Either way! I didn’t care.
Realizing we couldn’t escape from it, Dustin spun around and drew his lightsaber. I decided to do the same. Tiana stood there, then drew her two blasters. We attacked the beast. I hated walking on it. It really sickened me. It wasn’t hard, more like it was squishy and slimy. Either way, I plunged my lightsaber into it’s arm. It roared in pain and flung me off. That hurt! Getting back up, I attacked it again. It’s arms swung all over the place, trying to hit Dustin, Tiana or me. I got up on it’s head and plunged the blade into it’s skull. It wailed then collapsed. But not before it hit Tiana halfway across the room.
“Tiana!” Dustin shouted. He ran over to her, checking her vitals and everything. “She’s alive but barely. We have to get her to base.”
I nodded and led the way to the ship. Climbing in the pilot’s chair, I hit the switch and the ship warmed up and took off. I sat there, watching the brother cry over his sister. I sighed, wishing I had a brother or sibling of my own. Then dad and mom would stop blaming me for everything.
About two hours and we reached the base. I landed the ship and we hurried off. Lando and Sheira was waiting for us.
“Talia! Who’s that?” Sheira asked, looking at Dustin.
“That’s your son, now Tiana is slightly alive! We have to get her to the medic station!” I shouted, panicked.
“Wait! What?” Lando asked.
“LET’S GO!” I shouted again. Dustin and I rushed to the medic station and they hurried to get Tiana’s heart up to beat. No pun intended. Everything seemed to go in slow motion. The heart monitor was at first great and her heart was pumping just fine. Then all of a sudden, it stopped. Lando sank to his knees, and Sheira buried her face in her hands. Dustin turned away and I could see tears rolling down his face. I felt myself feel heavy. My best friend was gone.
