Sally was preforming for the guests with Beppi. It was late at night so the number of guests were a little bit less than during the evenings. Specter was working the bar in Beppi's absence and King Dice was playing a hand or two with some wasted people. King Dice would hate to admit it, but just having this was nice.
King Dice delt out the cards as the two wasted people put all their money in. King Dice matched the bet and delt out the cards. Five card stud, diced wild. King Dice picked up his hand and glanced over it. He must have had the devil's own luck.
All four Aces and a two of hearts. No chesting required. King Dice glanced over at Sally, Beppi, and Specter. He smiled softly to himself, looking down at his own heart suit die on his necklace. That's when one of the two wasted people banged on the table.
"Put down your hand already damnit!"
King Dice flinched in his moment of vaunerability and placed down his hand. With that wild, he had five aces. The two wasted people flipped out that they lost and just left. The money was Dice's. He took a large bucket he kept with him and slid the coins in it. He should get a small profit off of this hand alone,
King Dice brought the bucket with him as he went to go sit at an extra space on the bar. Sally and Beppi were doing Some sort of sitcom like thing together, making the remaining people laugh in entertainment. Specter even snickered with the punchlines. King Dice felt... content here.
No devil, no strings attatched, no contracts. It felt nice to have sowmthing down out of his won free will than someone else's for a change. As he was thinking about it, Specter already had his favorite drink out and made for him.
"Here ya go, boss. Oh, and thanks for a better life."
Specter had his eye in his eyesocket so he could pat King Dice in the shoulder without weirding him out. Besides, he kinds needs to see if he's working the bar. King Dice smiled to himself, taking the drink into his hands and looking at it. This really was better than the devil. Sally, Beppi, And Specter changed him for the better.
This was the rise of the Dice.
