First Date, Kinda?

It was finally lunch time.

I've been waiting for 3 hours which feels like eternity.

Maybe that was a little dramatic.

Nah.

"Hey sis, having a good first day so far?" Emma asks while I'm getting my lunch money.

"Yes, how about you?" I ask.

"Yes, but I have to go." she says and walks into the popular group of girls.

Claire comes up soon after Emma left and we walk to lunch. We sit with our bigger friend group. We talk about our new teachers and boys.

I see Hunter walk in. He seems to not know where to sit. Then a group of boys call him over. He sits down and they all engage in a conversation. Hunter looks back and he seems to be looking for someone. When he catches my gaze he waves. I wave back.

"Okay, what was that all about?" Claire asks.

I smile, "I met Hunter."

She gasps! "Aw, I ship."

I slightly hit her and the continue on with the conversation at the table.

Claire and I are about to leave when Hunter walks over. Claire hits me a little.

"So, I was wondering if you could show me around town after school?" he asks.

I'm taken back by the question that I can't answer.

"She would love too." Claire says.

"I'll meet you at your locker after school." he says.

I nod and Claire and I run off.

"Dude, he's totally into you." Claire says.

"No, he just wants to make friends." I say.

"He made friends but he chooses to hangout with you." Claire says.

My stomach turns but all I do is shrug.

After school, I put my books in my backpack and shut my locker.

I'm startled to see Hunter standing there.

I step back fast.

"Woah, you scared me." I say.

"Sorry." he laughs. "I know my looks are scary good." Hunter says trying to be funny.

I roll my eyes and walk away.

To my surprise,

he follows.

I get my car keys out and unlock the door.

"Nice grandma car." he says laughing.

"Don't hate on my car." I say playfully shoving him.

His laugh makes me laugh. It's so contagious.

"So take me to the best food place in town." he says.

Without saying where we are going I pull off.

I take him to this diner, The Worm.

I love it here.

We go inside and he plays with his menu. He pops his head up. I roll my eyes and he laughs. I cant help but laugh too.

We order food and eat. He tells me about his little sister. I tell him about my twin sister. He tells me about moving and his old town. I tell him about when I moved here from New York. We talked long after we were done eating.

Afterwards we get in the car.

Before I can say anything he says, "I love movies. Can we go see one?"

I love movies so of course I say yes.

After the movie, it's almost my curfew.

"I have to get home soon. I'll take you back to school to get your car." I say.

He nods.

We jam out to music all the way home. We loved all of the same songs. Minus my girly ones which he wasn't a fan of but he pretended to like them.

Eventually, it gets quite. I think about the day we just spend together. It was really fu- wait, dinner and a movie. Did we just go on a date.

"Did we just go on a date?" I blurt out.

He laughs but I'm too nervous.

He keeps quite and I look over at him.

He looks at me.

"Okay, alright, you caught me. I didn't know how to ask you so that was my way of taking you out." he says.

I couldn't believe this was happening.

"Are you mad at me?" he says.

"No, I've just- never mind." I say.

"Tell me." Hunter says.

"I've never been on a date before." I say quietly.

"You have now." he says smiling.

I feel my face turn hot.

OooO but fr when is this gonna happen to me?

i am not trying to be in my feels so i'm gonna go listen to cardi b.
