Celia and I got closer during our break. We spent most nights drinking cheap wine and vodka together.

It wasn't until a few weeks later when we all went back to our work that we had our worst fight yet. Since Nova was no longer COO, Sawyer suggested that I as CEO and as the only person in the company who knew of Nova's death should find a replacement. All I remember about what happened next was screaming that Nova could never be replaced and throwing my chair into the wall.

Sawyer ran away, and after she wouldn't take calls from Rory, Celia drove out to find her.

Sawyer walked across the street just as Celia was nearing her house. Later Sawyer said that it was an unknown driver that had hit her. Celia would've gotten in trouble for driving under the influence.

I was the only one Sawyer told of the true events of that night in her hospital room. Sawyer was sent to the hospital where Rory was top surgeon, so Rory was delegated to operate on her friend. She could only limit the paralysis to Sawyer's lower half. Despite her days of research and the copious amounts of money donated from Celia's family, Sawyer couldn't be cured and would never return to the track where she had won gold medals.

Rory never forgave herself.
