Why did I choose to go with Jiwon that day? It wasn't a good day at all. But choices are made before actions are explained, even if we care or not. In the world of auction houses of art, there are only two houses you should know. The ones who make tons of money, that manage to sell the most expensive ones of them all. When I started working at this auction house three years ago, I thought that I found a great and stable job. For two days at least. I soon understood that very few people cared about the artworks. I did get the job because I was very excellent and knew a lot of things about artworks, but I wasn't anything to this company. After a few weeks, I understood again that nobody cared if you could tell apart artworks, and that there were more important things you had to know.
I still enjoyed working at the auction house still after three years. I liked how buyers looked excitedly at the professionals explaining each artwork that they wanted to sell. I liked listening to the conversations they had, trying to pronounce Italian and French words. I though, didn't try to make the buyer fall for me. I went simple and classy whereas the others, tried really hard to make themselves look sexy or hot. Just for the buyers. I was proud for whatever I had accomplished, getting myself to be the helping hand of a professional thay worked around British Pictures. I didn't want to stay long in that department. I didn't want to spend the rest of my life looking at paintings of dogs and horses.
That day, that I unexpectedly met Jiwon, I got an email sent by my vice manager. It's title was «Quick!», but there wasn't any text when I pressed on it.
I went to her office to ask her what she wanted. She had taken some courses over business and thought it was better to talk face to face in the office, but she still had a hard time typing on her computer.
«I want you to look at Longhi's paintings».
We were holding an auction for italic paintings that were of a Belgian painter, and showcased everyday scenes in England in the 18th century.
«Should I go check the ones in the warehouse?»
«No, Eunae. That's Taemin's job. I want you to go and see if the people on the paintings are real.»
Taemin was the headmaster of the sector and never showed up before 11.
I checked on the laptop to find out some information. There were catalogues with peoples pictures and their names. I had to search who exactly each person was, and they could have posed for him while partying in the 18th century, like if we found their names it would make the painting more insteresting.

I gave the information I had found, and went home. I fell asleep quickly on the couch at 5 in the afternoon and wasn't able to make it to our auction the next morning, that I had been working on.
«For fucks sake, Eunae», she started by saying, «you will never be good at this job, if you sneak around late at night and not make it to your job».

After that I felt like I needed to calm myself down.
I called Jiwon, met her at the metro station and for once in my life, I needed to drink.
