So this all happened about a decade ago. To make the rest of the story clearer I'll provide some background information. I was nine years old at the time and was a Girl Guide, the Canadian equivalent of a Girl Scout, in the Fraser Valley region of British Columbia. One long weekend in May my guide group went camping. The name of the location I'd like to keep private, however I will say the campground is owned by the Girl Guides of Canada. After dumping my belongings in my tent we were all called to the dining hall to go over camp rules. The rule crucial to this story is that at night if we needed to use the restroom we needed to bring a buddy. The day was pretty standard as far as camping goes. We played games in the forest, had bonfires, toasted marshmallows and sung songs.
Around 10p.m. or so we retired to out tents for the night. I had previously agreed to be bathroom buddies with one of the girls in my tent. It was about 1a.m. the next morning when I woke up desperately needing to go to the washroom. I tried to wake up my buddy, but she wouldn't wake up for anything. I tried waking up the other girls, but they kept sleeping as well. After 10 minutes or so I gave up and decided to go it alone. I dug around in my bag for my flashlight and took off. The building with the washrooms was on the other side of the campgrounds . I ran silently to the building out of fear of being caught by a guide leader. I had this eerie feeling I was being watched the whole time, but I persisted anyways. When I was ready to head back to my tent I exited the building. I was about to start running back when I heard a "psst" behind me. I whirled around, but couldn't see anything. A couple seconds passed and I heard a louder "psst!" It sounded like it came from behind the building. I turned to face the noise and froze. About thirty feet away from me was a figure. At first I thought it was a person, but it was too tall to be human and very skinny. I just stared at it, too scared to move and it just stared back. I couldn't see its eyes, but I could feel them burning into my soul. Suddenly, a twig snapped not to far from me. I looked over quickly and when I returned my gaze straight ahead the figure was gone. I went as fast as I could back to my tent and hid in my sleeping bag. When I finally got the courage to peek out from my sleeping bag the figure was standing motionless right outside my tent. I ducked back in and hid. My sleeping bag was right next to the entrance of the tent. All of a sudden, right beside my ear on the other side of the entrance I heard very faint breathing. I poked my head out again. Silence. Then the figure pressed one of its long fingers to its lips and went "shh." After that I heard it walk away from my tent to another. There sounded to be a mild disturbance there a few moments later, but I couldn't bring myself to see what was going on. After that I heard the footsteps go into the woods. I stayed awake the rest of the night paralyzed by fear. When the sun rose I finally dared to step foot outside. When I stepped out there was a huge commotion. One of the girls in the tent beside me had gone missing.
