I didn't mean to break your heart. I didn't want to. But as I laid there alone at three a.m., thinking about us, I realised something. A lot of realisations are made at three a.m., you know. Realisations of love, of sorrow, of a need to do something, of time running out, of missing someone, of wanting something, and of a problem you couldn't pinpoint before. I realised we could never work if we continued as we were.
I broke your heart, and I'm sorry. Please know it was accidental.
