The Twins

The twins Robert and Charlie grew up together ,played together , they did everything together. As they grew older both of them decided to go there own separate ways. Robbert became a successful lawyer , whereas Charlie became a janitor at the high school both of the boys went to.

One boring Wednesday afternoon at Laurence High school (where Charlie works), Charlie was innocently cleaning the floor in the lunch hall when out of nowhere two senior boys came behind Charlie and began to attack him, while the boys were beating him up Charlie took his house keys out of his pocket and he stabbed one of the boys with it. Once the other boy realized what had happened he went straight too the principal office telling him that Charlie had attacked them , which they both knew was not he case.

The next again day Charlie was getting ready for work trying to move on from what had previously happened the day before when he got a phone call , recognizing the ring tone Charlie anxiously approached the phone, once he picked it up he heard the outraged voice of the principal. "Hello, is that Charlie?" asked the principal, "Yes, hello sir", replied Charlie nervously. "I'am calling to inform you that the boy you attacked with your key", "I didn't , they attacked me", " Dont interrupt me, what i'am trying to say is that the young mans parents are threatening to sue the school 10,000 dollars for his medical treatment bill aswell as taking you too court for assault." Charlie was shocked he quickly hung up the phone in disbelief and began to cry.

Later on that day Charlie was called once again by the principal informing him that he would have to come up to the school at approximately 12:15 , Charlie was really nervous by this point ,after thinking up a story to use for once he arrived at the school , he got dressed into a nice suit , instead of his usual janitor clothes , he realized the time and rushed to the school with two and a half minutes left until the meeting. He went over the story once again in his head before he was caught of guard by an angered principal. "You can come in now Charlie", "Oh okay, thank you sir", As Charlie walked closer into the silent room he noticed something..."Wait, why is there other people in here , I thought it was just going to be you and I?","No Charlie this is Mr and Mrs Rushton the young mans parents", Charlie was lost for words, "Oh hi, its nice to meet you." Unsurprisingly Mr and Mrs Rushton refused to accept his greeting , they talked for a while about what happened before Mr Rushton stormed out still believing that his sons friend was telling the the truth, they talked (argued) for a bit longer before Mr Rushton came back in and told Charlie, "We will see you in court", those words terrified Charlie as he'd never been to court before, the principal told Charlie too take some time of work a they did not want the school to have a bad reputation, that night as Charlie lay down in his bed he had an idea, he could call his brother.

The next morning as Charlie woke up he went straight for the telephone book to look for his his brothers phone number, after a while he found what he was looking for , he jumped in excitement. As Charlie carefully dialed Roberts phone number in , he was struggling to remember the last time they had seen each other let alone spoke. "Em Hello, who is this" Charlie was happy to finally hear his voice after so long. "Hi Robert its me, Charlie", "Oh hi Charlie, What do you want?" "Well I need your help", they both talked for another hour or so before Robert finally decided to agree in being Charlie's lawyer for the court case.

Two weeks later both brothers met up in a cafe near to both of their homes, they exchanged hugs with one another before they began to discuss what they were going to do for the court case, after a while they decided on telling the court exactly what happened, if they believed it or not. Charlie and Robert were two completely different people, although they looked the same, Robert was a successful lawyer who was making around 2,000,000 dollars yearly whereas Charlie was an unsuccessful janitor who was making around 5,000 dollars yearly so when it came to them having a discussion about their lives , Charlie had nothing to say because he hadn't properly lived his life unlike Robert who had.

That night after few drinks they decided to stay at Roberts house until the court case was over, as it was closer to the court. On the court day everyone on both sides families were nervous, during the day both sides through some good cases towards the judge,but by the end Charlie had an idea. Charlie and Robert were almost identical, they had similar personalities, they spoke in the same manner so he thought to himself why not swap both of their business cards so that it would look like Robert was guilty. Later on that night Charlie asked Robert if he would like a drink, after around 10 more glasses of vodka Robert was passed out on the sofa bed.

The next again day during the sentencing Charlie turned up wearing Roberts expensive a suit while Robert was wearing Charlie's clothes while still having a hangover. The judge spoke,"Charlie Patterson, I sentence you to 8 years in jail with a chance of parole." Charlie smirked his plan had worked.

Two years later:

Roberts still in jail living out Charlie's sentence, whereas Charlie, well he's living in Roberts life, wile Robert is unaware of what is happening... Or is he?
