~Author's Note~ I am really new to Wattpad and I'm still trying to figure it out, so this story is my "lab rat" at the moment :P Any feedback is deeply appreciated, positive or negative. Hope you enjoy it!

I stared at the night sky. Stars blazed with white fire as the moon was nothing but a sliver of glowing stone. It lit up the sky like a torch in the shadows, throwing silver rays everywhere. The stars revealed pictures and stories as they speckled the night. I could create a map using their patterns, a guide woven of light. My eyes followed the map into wonderful lands full of life and joy.

A fog of purple was blended in the dark blue, like leaking water colors. The colors swirled and chased each other through the diamonds that were stuck in the sky. They flooded the night sky and stretched out to the horizon. A hue of a sapphire slithered throughout the stars and flowed around the plum shade. A river, trickling down the night. The colors gave the sky great beauty and filled me with wonder.

My breath was stolen by the heavens as I gazed up at the sky, my eyes gleaming. Chocolate brown hair curled and dipped down my shoulders and to my elbows as my eyes were the shade of fresh bark. My skin had a faint tan to it, though it showed that I didn't go in the light of day often. A silver halo was fitted on my head like a ring as a long necklace dripped down my throat. The charm was a single glowing star, only a little bit bigger than a marble.

It was my star.

When I died, the star will float into the night, taking my power and soul with it. And there it will stay, in the sea of white gems. Forever in the sky, until it grows old and burns out. Until it is nothing more than a dying memory. I always had it with me. Though the star gave whoever wore it the power to control me, I was lucky no one knew I was up here.

I sat on the edge of the crumbling castle. The clear stone was cracked and weary as it held on the tower for dear life. It was once a balcony, smooth and decorated in the most beautiful swirls and drawings. I remember constellations were painted on them, their names scribbled across the sky. It was brilliantly crafted. I use to sit out here with Bianca, and we'd stare at the stars...now I did it alone.

A enchanting castle use to stand here, made of thick glass and gleaming jewels. It spiraled into the sky, almost touching the moon. The walls were slick as the towers were thin and had the look of pearl. Ribbons of moonlight sparkled on the surface of the castle making it shimmer. The whole structure was mounted on a large haze of light. Ghostly flames licked the dark, waving and curling. It was like the castle began to dissolve. When I was young I'd always toss pebbles into the flickering glow but they would just be swallowed by its light.

I remember staring into the distance from my balcony, watching the monsters claw through the sky and race towards the kingdom, their howls and screeches tearing through the heavy night. Red smoke choked the sky and whirled our way. Ashes and fire blazed from the King's chariot as he barked orders at his beasts.

Panic gurggled in my gut as my palms were sweaty, I was too young to truly understand what was about to take place, but I knew it wasn't going to be good. My eyes were wide and glassy due to the urge to cry, but I held the tears back, creating a lump in my throat. I remember looking up at Bianca, one of my dearest sisters, "Will you be okay?" I asked my voice cracking. Bianca was tall and elegant but her face was firm. Her inky black hair was twisted in a braid as her eyes shimmered blue.

She kneeled by me and folded a lock of my hair behind my ear. She leaned forwards and kissed my forehead, "I'll be fine. Don't worry about me." She cooed though her words were weak and sad. A tear escaped my eye and trailed down my cheek. I quickly lifted my hand and smeared it across my face, wipping the drop away. I sniffled and peered deep into Bianca's eyes. " Here, I want you to have this." She said and gently removed the silver ring around her head and placed on mine.
