"What do you mean you're dead?" I asked.

The school bell rung, but I wasn't going to leave without an explanation.

"You better get to class," he said.

"No, not until I get some answers."

"After school," he promised. "Just walk home, I'll-I'll find you."

Then he ran off round the corner. I followed him, but when I looked round the corner, he seemed to have suddenly disappeared. I sighed and walked to class. History class had always been a bore, but today it seemed to be dragging on even longer, so as to stretch my patience till it was very thin.

The bell finally rang to mark the end of school, and I walked with a fast pace out of the compound. I went to the train station and caught a train back home. I did not once stop looking for him. I walked constantly looking around, but even when I had reached my front door, I had not even seen the slightest glimpse of him. I sighed as I shut the door behind me and hung my coat up.

"Did you see Hal today?" My mum asked.

"Yeah," I replied. "He's fine. Don't worry about him."

"Okay. If you need anything just say so," my mum told me as I went to my room.

"Okay."

I was doing my geometry homework at my desk when a voice asked, "Is that difficult?"

I turned around and screamed. In my room stood Hal Calvin.

"Is everything alright in there?" I heard my mum ask from outside.

"Yes mother," I said trying to think up a lie. "I-I just saw a spider."

"Sorry," he apologised. "I didn't mean to scare you."

"How did you get in here?" I hissed. I glanced at the window but it was shut tight.

"Um well, you see well, I also have special powers."

"Yes,and I can read people's minds," I replied sarcastically.

"You can?"

"No, of course not! You can't be dead and have special powers too."

"Okay, okay calm down. Let me explain," he sat down on my bed and sighed. "I'm from the underworld. I'm not exactly dead. Just The Lord of the dead."

"Is that better?" I asked.

"Okay let me start again," he said as he flipped his hood off his head and ruffled his own hair. "I am from the underworld. I am The Lord of the dead so I'm not quite as dead as I had come off to be. During he First World War, I grew scared at the feeling of so much death. My brother Zach told me to go to the underworld and stay there for a while, but I've decided it's been to long. When I came up here, I was completely lost. The world had changed so much. Luckily nobody could see me. After walking around for a month, I finally found you."

"Wait how can other people not see you but I can?"

"I'm getting to that part," he continued. "I hid from you for three months just silently watching you."

"You stalked me for three months?"

"Yes, no, kind of," he said. "I was merely watching you. Then finally I decided to let you see me. That was the day you saw me at the train station. I didn't think you could fully see me, but later when you came and talked to me...well I was very surprised."

"I don't know," I said doubtfully. "How can I trust that you're not crazy?"

"You can't trust me," he said. "But all I can say is that is the truth."
