Kylie^^

**************

He turned towards her, tilting his head as one of his eyebrows quirked.

"Kylie Anderson. Why?" He asked.

Jamie's eyes grew wide. She groaned, letting her head fall onto her arms.

"What is it?"

"No way...."

"What?!"

"She's the one who gave me the invitation." She covered her face with her hands.

The boy's eyes grew wide.

"Oh."

"No wonder she was so desperate. She pretty much set up a blind date." Jamie scoffed, shaking her head with a chuckle.

"That's, this is just...wow." He chuckled shortly, shaking his head also.

Then, from inside the building, slow music drifted into their ears. Jamie looked at the door and out of the corner of her eye, she thought she saw the boy looking at her. She turned to see him smiling kindly at her. He held out his hand.

"Wanna go dance?" He asked.

She stared at him, a small smile curling her lip as she nodded.

"Sure, just let me put my hair up." She began to fiddle with her hair.

"You should keep it down."

She paused. "Huh?"

"You look better with it down."

"Um...okay." Perplexed, she let it cascade down her back. "By the way, what's your name?"

"Jackson. Jackson Rider. What's yours?"

"Jamie Henderson."

She placed her hand in his, walking into the building beside him.

The room was filled with people on the dancefloor, some dancing with spouses, some dancing with friends, some dancing with people they had just met that night.

Jamie and Jackson walked quietly onto the dancefloor and with his hand on her waist and hers on his shoulder, they began to dance. They talked about their favorite things, he complimented her on her voice when she was caught singing along under her breath and laughed when she denied the compliment. They talked about their parents and the hardships that both had gone through. Jackson's eyes filled with pity when Jamie spoke about her life.

"I can't even imagine living like that! How are you able to do that all by yourself?"

"I wasn't alone, I had my mother and my friends. They'll always be there for me."

Jamie's eyes swirled with sweet emotions. Jackson noticed.

"You love it here don't you?"

She lifted her head, nodding swiftly.

"Of course! This is my home! I was born here! Wouldn't trade it for the world!"

"Oh..."

Suddenly, a loud voice spoke over the microphone as the music faded. The dance was ending and everyone began to slip outside. A look of disappointment came across Jackson's face.

"Man, I was hoping to dance a little longer." He grumbled, crossing his arms.

"Well, I thought it was fun."

Jackson looked down at Jamie. She was smiling. Jackson smiled back.

"I guess it was. C'mon, I'll walk you out."

As they walked out onto the porch that was so full of people you couldn't see the floor, a single voice called out to Jamie. It was Kylie. She waved at the two as they walked down the steps.

"Thanks for the dance, Jackson," Jamie said turning to him.

"Huh? Oh, yeah, it was fun huh?" He answered looking at the road.

She ignored his distant response.

"Yes it was... well, goodbye, my mother is expecting me home soon."

"Yeah."

Jamie nodded and began to walk to Kyle's side.

"Jamie wait!"

Jamie turned to see Jackson trotting up to her.

"What is it?" She asked when he had caught up.

"I-I wanted to thank you for tonight."

"Okay."

He sighed, blush lining his cheeks.

"Close your eyes." He said leaning in slightly.

"Okay..."

Once Jamie had closed her eyes, she felt a weight on her lips and a grip on her shoulders.

".....!"

A small sound escaped as their lips parted. Jamie opened her eyes to see Jackson unable to look her in the eye, blush burning on his face.

"Thank you...for the dance."

After this was said, he hurried down the road as if it was on fire.

Jamie stood frozen, grazing her fingers over her lips where his had just been.

"What...just...happened?!" She thought as she sank to the ground, placing her hands on her cheeks, feeling the heat that resonated from the red blush.

She turned to Kylie, who stood there her hands clasped over her mouth, her eyes bulging.

She looked back to where Jackson had taken off. She huffed out a laugh as a smile grew on her face.

"Oh my gosh..."

She stood from the road, walked up to Kylie, and hugged her.

"Next time, tell me when you're gonna set one of these up." She said.
