The Secrets I Hold

Chapter One

"Mom do we really have to go on this trip?" I complained. " We go every year and this is my last summer to be home and relax! I say we skip the trip to Georgia and I can save up for college."

"Jace this is the perfect time to spend time with us! You will be all grown up after this summer so we are going and you aren't going to change our minds." My mom said.

Jace was only eighteen and had just graduated from high school. He had short black hair, a perfectly tanned built body, grey eyes and was average height. He lived in Chicago, Illinois with his family.

Jace was adopted. He had lived with this family ever since he could remember so to him they were his real family. The only people from his biological mother he kept in touch with throughout the years were his grandparents due to the fact that his mother died shortly after giving birth.

Jace's grandparents died about three years ago and now he had no connection to his biological family. It's not that he couldn't see his dad or cousins but they didn't want to see him. Whenever he tried to contact them they always were...strange. After a while he just gave up trying to find them. Now Jace is content being with his friends and family.

Jace, his parents, and his little sister Amy went on the same road trip to Georgia every year. They always went the first week of summer vacation. His family liked to rent a cabin right by the beach and since they didnt have any other family members that they stay in touch with, they went alone.

To save money Jace's family always drove to Georgia. The drive took them about fourteen hours from their home in Chicago. His mom always called it "family time" but to Jace it was torture because he had to sit in the back with his annoying little sister, Amy.

His family only stopped the car for bathroom breaks and food. They would drive throughout the day and even into the night until they made it to the cabin. This time the cabin would remain empty.
