It's an interesting feeling
To realize you're alone.
You feel the thump of your heart
Throughout your whole body,
And it hurts.
Being alive physically hurts.
When the realization hits you
It comes out of nowhere,
In bed,
On the couch,
Cooking dinner.
You stop and look up.
No one called your name.
No one will.
You let it sink in
The things it means.
The symbolism of being abandoned.
And any way you look at it
It's your fault.
It's an interesting feeling
To be left alone.
But it's more interesting
To be left alone
For someone else.
