(No, the chapters will not go in a pattern. It just kinda started off that way.)
I sighed as I walked through the mostly abandoned Range.
"I can't believe this..." I muttered under my breath. I figured there would possibly be more people. Possibly people who just got lost and couldn't find there way out. But no, everyone booked it. They took off as soon as they heard even the slightest word about The Hunt. Oh well. They all seem like pussies.
I walked through an alleyway and leaned against the wall, looking around the abandoned town. This place used to be thriving with people, but that was before Fear came into power. I wondered if the world could ever be the way it had been. Sure, people were pretty stupid, while now, if you did anything stupid, you either got lashes, or you were straight up killed. But at least people weren't always hiding and having to fight for their food, and even though some were, at least it didn't affect the people with a good life too horribly.
"You are Alcrin, right?" I looked over to see someone standing at the other end of the alley. He had a hood on, so I couldn't see his face, but I wasn't worried about that.
"Who's asking?" I snapped.
"Does it really matter? Are you Alcrin?" The man repeated.
"Sure. I'm Alcrin. What does it matter to you?" I growled as I stepped away from the wall.
"I would like you to come with me. There's someone who would like to meet you." The man murmured.
"Who?" I said as I stepped towards the man.
"You'll have to find out when we get to your new home." The man answered.
"New home? Oh no. Unless he comes after me himself, I'm not going to his place!" I snapped, balling my fists.
"Very well then." A deep voice resonated through the alley. "Will you come with me now, Alcrin?" A man with red hair and one white eye and one red eye stepped out of the shadows behind me.
"What? I never said I wouldn't put up a fight." I growled.
Fear only chuckled. "You really are the fearless one." He walked forward and looked down at me.
I'm only about 5'9" amd this guy looked to be around 6'5". I wasn't worried about it though. I refused to be scared of him. "I won't go down without a fight."
Fear reached down and cupped my chin. "I don't need to fight with you much to get you to follow the rules." Before I could think of what was happening, everything went dark, and I felt myself fall.
~~~
I woke up in a room that was mostly white and red. I looked around and tried to sit up.
"You're awake. That's good." His voice rang in my ears.
I turned my head and glared at him. "What do you want from me?"
"I think I can teach you to fear." He chuckled and I just rolled my eyes.
"I'm not scared of you, dumbass." I growled.
"You have to be scared of something, even if it isn't me." Fear murmured, smirking at me.
"Why exactly did you go after me?" I asked.
"You're going to be a good challenge." Fear grabbed a glass of what looked like water and held it out to me.
"I'm pretty sure it's more than that. You're probably gonna end up using me for your sick and twisted games." I glared at the glass.
"It's water, Alcrin. Just drink it." Fear growled. Looks like he might actually have a temper.
"What if it's poisoned?" I glared at him.
"Would I poison you on your first day here?" Fear said.
"I don't know. I don't even know you! All I know is that I definitely hate you." I heard Fear sigh and he set the water back down before standing up from the chair he had been sitting in.
"If your thirsty, the water will still be there. And if you need anything, go ahead and tell Nifira." He turned and walked out of the room, closing the door behind him. I watched him go and looked down.
'No. There's no way I saw that... Did I? No! Fear is a liar! Isn't he? God damnit Alcrin! Stop it! He's your enemy!'
"What's wrong with my head?"
(Okay, so a lot of these chapters are being written a day or two before they are published, but that's only because I don't write a lot on the weekends and I figured I would just write chapters to post each day ahead of time. I am prepared! Enjoy and keep up the reads!)
