You decide to go 'check in' with Jungkook first. Why? Cause he's closest and you're lazy.

Also because he seemed pretty nice. You guess.

He looks up from his phone and smiles shyly. "Hey." He says almost monotone.

"Hi." You say maybe a little too brightly, sitting in the chair next to him.

A silence fell over you two, mainly because neither of you really knew how to start a conversation.

"It's weird, huh?" He asks, more like states.

"What is?" You look over confused.

"This, all of this." He looks forward into the distance of the large living room. "Youre the youngest, and a female no less."

You laugh, barely. "Yeah, I guess it will take some getting used to." You look into the distance as well. "How did you do it? Get used to it all, I mean."

"...It wasn't easy." There was a slight hesitation in his voice.

"Oh, you don't have to talk about it if you don't want to! I don't mean to intrude." Shit, wait to ruin it y/n. You curse to yourself silently.

"No, it's fine. A lot of people know already." He smiles, still looking off somewhere else. Maybe towards what his life may have been like. "I was about 15 when my future really started. I gave up my childhood... My hyungs were the ones who really raised me."

You sit there, looking at him intently now. Wondering what it must have felt like to go through such a change at such a young age.

"As maknae- former, maknae, it was difficult. I felt i had to copy my Hyung's actions because they're older, meaning they knew best. Overtime I became comfortable with myself, expecially infront of the cameras."

"Yeah, that's a big change." You added, "yet your fans seem to enjoy all the small things you all do."

This made him smile, "yeah. Army so great." He cut off his glance and looks at you, "we really don't know much about you, y/n. Have you been in any groups before?"

Now it was you who looked in the distance as the other watched. "Not an official group. Of course I put on performances for parents with friends as a little kid, but then again we all did."

"That's also a big change, so I guess we both know how each other feels."

Jeon Jungkook, the hot maknae that makes girls drool while he's on stage. This man was just a cute guy inside and out off camera, compassionate as well. You wondered whether there wsore to him, or if there was, if anyone knew.

Another moment of silence went around the room, again, what to say?

"So," you broke the silence. "Any tips on being maknae? Advice from the best, the Golden maknae, may help."

"The golden maknae is a thing of the past, you're here and will become your own special maknae, y/n. In terms of how to act, just be yourself. Fans want to see the real you. Not the one managers and producers put in front of the screen."

Even though he was young, Jungkook was wise. You thought that he may always know the right things to say, which may come as a benefit later on.

"I guess many fandoms expect the youngest to ve cute and kind of shy. I was like that at first, but look at me now. A lot has changed in five years."

"Fake Love choreography, I take it?" This made you both laugh. Finally, a small bond. "Was that originally part of the dance, or just a little bonus foe armys?"

"I'm not sure. I guess I just did it once and kept going. They seemed to like it."

"Is..." Your face became red, unsure if whether to ask or not. "Is everything you do for your fans?"

Thing is, Jungkook wasn't really phased by the question. They have had five years to receive comments and time to question their actions.

"A lot of it, yes. But you can't please everyone. As I said, just be yourself."

All in all, it wasn't the most helpful conversation ever. You always just assumed maknae just meant you were the youngest. That's it. Although it was explicitly said, the person holding the title does have their own standards that many expect them to meet. And as the former golden maknae had said, you can't please everyone.

The two of you talked about small things for awhile longer. However, an hour had already gone by, and there were six more members you had to 'interact' with.

As the two of you said your goodbyes, Jungkook went back to his hoodied/earphoned self and you?
