Chapter 1: The Beginning

Elizabeth's POV

2014

" Mom, can I please go the party with Jake? I'll do all the chores, and I've not gotten in trouble for the past week! I have straight A's on my report card." Jesus Christ,  mom is so hard to convince. It's just a simple little party.

" NO! You cannot go! You remember what happened last time? I'm not letting you do that again. Also, I don't trust that Jake. He looks like trouble."

" Mom, don't talk about Jake like that . We have been together for a year now, and you had no problem with him! Why now? You know what? Nevermind. I don't want to go. I'm going to bed."  I  go upstairs into my room. I quickly close the door and lock it. I don't care what mom says, I'm still going. I quickly throw on my black skinny jeans and put on a white tank top, shrugging on my black leather jacket. Before I put on my combat boots I get a text from Jake.

 

J: Hey babe im outside underneath your balcony. :)

E: Ok babe ill be out soon, cant wait ;)

I put on my boots and make it look like I'm sleeping in bed because I know mom will check to see if I really went to bed. I go out and step on the edge of the balcony. As I prepare myself to jump down, I slip. I saw that my safety landing wasn't there. I close my eyes preparing  myself for the pain that was going to come. However, I realize that I didn't hit the ground. I open my eyes to see a beautiful pair of golden eyes that are looking into my brown ones.

" Wow, I didn't expect you to catch me when I fell."

" Babe, I will always be there when you fall." I  feel myself blushing like crazy. He puts me down and we start walking to the party. A few minutes along he stops and looks at me.

" Are you ok? Is there something wrong?" He looks kinda worried about something.

" You love me no matter what, right?"

" Yes, of course. Why would you ask that?" Ok, this is really weird.

" Uhh, because you see... I'm not who you think I am."

" What do you mean?"

" How do I break this smoothly... Well, I'm a vampire."  I start laughing; Why would he say something like that? That they don't even exist!

" Yes they do exist. There are actually colonies of them, and it is the truth. Here is proof." He opens up his mouth and I see fangs growing from where his canine teeth should be. Wow, this is crazy. I never thought that it was going to be real.

" I thought you were just kidding, but I can't believe it! Are you going to hurt me, are you going to suck my blood?" This is scaring me and there are not a lot of things that scare me. But the one thing I am afriad of is vampires, and my boyfriend is one.

" No, I will never ever hurt or bite you, let alone suck your blood.  I could never do that to you."

" Yet, you are the one thing that scares me the most, and you kept that a secret from me for this long!  This is too much for me to handle,  I've got to go." I start walking away , so I can think things through fully.

" Wait, there is one more thing, Liz. We can't be together anymore." I stop dead in my tracks and turn around.

" You're breaking up with me?" Now I'm on the verge of tears. This isn't how I intended for my night to go.

" Yes, but there is a good explanation to why I'm doing this. I'm doing this so I can protect you." What's next, 'It's not you, it's me'?

" Protect me from what? You know that this is hurting me! I can't believe this!! I need to leave." I start running. Tears are streaming down my face. My vision is blurry, and all I see are the bright lights heading towards me, but before I could move I felt a sharp pain on my side and felt myself fly up and hit the ground. My vision clears up and I see the car that hit me didn't even stop. Then I see Jake at the other end of the street, and in the blink of an eye he's next to me. I can feel my heart pulse slowing down every second. I can tell that Jake is noticing this too.

" Alright Liz, this going to hurt for a little bit, but it's going to get better. It is going to save you." I feel a sharp pain in my throat. I feel my blood run thinner and thinner, but another substance thickens it right back up, like a tug of war. I close my eyes for a few seconds, then open them back up.  I don't know what happened, but I see Jake there staring at me in awe. I look at my skin;  it's a lot paler than it was before.

I take out my Samsung and turn on my camera. I flip the screen to face me. I see that my face is paler. Everything is mostly the same except my eyes. My eyes are the golden color, like Jake's eyes. That's when it hits me.

I open up my mouth and see a pair of fangs. I look at Jake.

( inside each others minds)

" What did you do to me?"

" First, don't kill me when I tell you, but I turned you into a vampire."

" Well obviously you turned me into a vampire. But why? And how? Wait, where am I?"

" Okay, it was to save your life. I took some of your blood and replaced it with some of my vampire venom, and you are now a participant in RVS."

"What's RVS?"

" Rebel Vampire Society."

" Oh, how adult." I rolled my eyes, glancing away for a brief moment. Everything is much more definite and pristine. I blink, focusing on the conversaton again. "A rebellion against what?"

" Keeping the vampire's race a sceret from the human race."

"Why? Wait, you broke up with me, and you still care? Why not just leave me here?"

"I'll answer those questions later. For now, you need to get some rest. And, I never broke up with you." For some reason I believed him. Sudden drowsiness overcame me,  and then I closed my eyes and fell asleep.
