Chapter 2: I'll Change My Mind

Elizabeth's POV;

" Come on Elizbeth, it's your time for you to go on night patrol." Jeez, why does Victoria sound so excited over night patrol? Oh yeah, that's right. This is the patrol to see who becomes my wing person whenever there is battle. I get up off of my bed and grab my triple bladed axe. The second I unlock the door, Victoria comes busting through.

" You know what year it is, right?"

" Yeah, 2064, the year that I have to choose my wing person."

" Yeah, and it's been 50 years since you got turned. We have to celebrate it."

" No, I told you I don't do those kinds of things. If it was for another person then I might go. But for me, I wouldn't even show up."

" Alright, whatever, thought maybe the curse would have disappeared by now." She shrugged and slipped out of the doorway, leaving me to my thoughts. She did not just bring that up. In case you were wondering, Jake died in battle and I was under depression for a long time. Sometime afterward, this goddess gone wrong named Eris said she could take away the pain, and that I would never have to feel it again. Well, what she didn't tell me was that I would not have any feelings towards another person or vampire again. Romantic, platonic... Nothing. That was over 20 years ago.

" Sorry, I shouldn't have brought that up." Victoria pops back into the doorframe, eyebrows drawn together in concern. I can tell that she is sorry, but with this dumb curse I can't feel forgivness anymore. We start walking to the one door that leads to the outside world. See, the thing is, our home is underground, but we go out a lot. Not just for patrol, but also just for fun. So throughout the night, there is really nobody in our little home. It's only during the day that it's full and I have to host meetings. Some are even living with humans and have families. We are just a place that they can always come back to . It may sound peaceful, but it's not. The ones who follow the rules that were formed by the elders always try to take down our society. That's why we have patrol.

As we walk out the door, we go to get Vic's weapons. She grabs her swords and puts on her belt filled with ninja stars. I also grab the electrical whip I only use in case of emergency. But I use my trusty triple bladed axe, Bucky. That's my favorite weapon, only because Jake used it, and it was the first weapon I learned to use.

 //Few Hours later//

My bloodthirst is crazy, mostly because I haven't eaten in two weeks. I quickly send a telepathic message to Victoria.

' I'm going to hunt. I haven't done it for a while, so I'll be right back.'

' Alright, just don't go crazy and drink human blood.'

' Got it. ' I start running, using my enhanced speed. I can sense some kind of animal nearby, locating it by the crackle of underbrush beneath its weight. The sound becomes more intense and much louder, and I quickly realize it is more than one animal. A clearing opens up, dotted here and there with deer. I quickly push one down, ready to sink my teeth into it while the rest scatter. I stop dead when I hear some kind of yelling in the distance.

//Liam's POV//

" Alright boys, that was a good run. Go ahead and take a break. Be back here in an hour." Yes, finally a break! We've been rehearsing for three hours, and it's a lot of hard work.

" Hey Louis, I'm going to go get some fresh air." I slip my padded headphones off, letting them rest around my neck.

" Ooh,  don't you know that at this time of night is when the vampires come out and suck your blood?" He snickers in a creepy voice, popping the cap off of a water bottle.

" Lou, you know they don't exist." Rolling my eyes, I step away, towards the back exit.

" You never know."

" Bye!" I yell from the door, hoping no one saw me or heard me besides Lou.

I finally get out. Man, how I love the stars at night. I start walking along the forest that's behind the stadium. I check my watch to see that it's time for me to get back, but the problem is I don't know how will I get back. I have no clue  where I'm at. I hear some footsteps heading towards me .

" Hello? Is somebody there? I'm lost and I have no clue where I am!"  I see a deer running at me, and I quickly jump out of the way when all of a sudden I see a black figure go after the deer, pushing the animal down and then pinning it to the floor.  I see blood coming trickling down its body, but the figure is still there. What is it doing? I start to walk to the figure to see who it was. I should've processed how dangerous this situation was, but for the life of me, I couldn't think straight.

" Excuse me, but what are you doing to the deer?" The figure slowly stands up, but runs at an incredible speed into the dark. Why was it hiding in the dark?

" It's okay, you can come out. Why don't you step into the moon light; you don't have to fear me." Blazes, I've seen far too many Disney films. I should be running and screaming the other direction, not trying to coax this mystery creature from the dark.

" I'm not afraid." So it speaks.

" Then why don't you come out?"

"Because then you will be afraid." She steps out into the moon light, and I see a beautiful girl with long wavy brown hair; a bit tall, but not as tall as me. I looked at her eyes; They were a beautiful golden color. But I saw a purple flash go across them, like a glaze.. I wonder why that happened. But the one thing that caught my eye was the blood coming down from her mouth. Was Louis right? Are vampires real? Stop, don't think like that! You know that they are not real.

" Yes, they are real, there is even a society of them." She cocks her head and narrows her eyes at me. I take a suprised step back at the intrusion of my thoughts.

" Wait! How did you know what I was thinking?"

" I can read minds."

" Ok, besides that, vampires are not real."

"How do you know?" Dang it, she pulled that question out on me. Maybe I can use that against her.

" Well how do you know that they are real?" Liam:1, creepy deer-eating person:0.

" I asked first."

" Well, nobody has seen them and there is no proof."

"  You know you are talking to a vampire right now, right?" Yeah, right. Like that's even possible.

" If you are a vampire, then prove it. If so, I'll change my mind, if not, then my mind will not change."

" Fine." She opens her mouth to reveal fangs. Still don't believe her. One of my friends from Uni once glued fake canines in to scare the teacher. Then I saw her run, as fast as The Flash from my comics. Then she disappeared. I wonder... Where did she run off to? Then I feel a sharp pain on the left side of my  neck. I feel my blood pulsing and running thin, but then something else entered my body.  Okay, I definitely change my mind! Vampires are real! But I never expected vampire bites to hurt so bad.  I start to feel a bit weak, and then darkness came over me.
