Sweet Dreams

Jake ran out of the palace. He wiped tears from his face. " I have nowhere to go, I'm not going back to Andrew's place and neither of the palaces." Jake thought hard and then remembered something. His tournament was next month on July 13. He had no one to compete with anymore. Jake brushed that thought off, it wasn't important anymore. Jake had another though, if all the elites had a palace that must have meant that his mom had one as well, but how he was going to find it was going to be tricky. Jake agreed that he would find it tomorrow, for now his head was stuck on trying to find a place to stay for the night. Jake knew that there were hotels he could sleep in, but he had no money. He would try to get in either way. Jake pulled out his phone and saw a notification saying " 20 missed calls from Andrew" under them there was texts from Andrew saying " Where did you go?" " Come back to us" "We need to talk" " Don't run from this Jake" Jake put his phone away, he wasn't going to deal with that anymore. He walked to the front of the hotel and entered through the door. A lady was at the counter letting in new customers. Jake walked to the counter. The lady greeted him " Welcome to the classy cozy hotel. My name is Jessie, what can I help you with today... Oh you're just a kid, what are you doing here hun?" Jake spoke " Well I have no one to stay with anymore and I don't have a place to stay for the night. I have no money and I wanted to know if there was anything I could do to get a room for the night." Jessie spoke " Oh you poor thing. I'll give you a free night for today, but only one night." Jake smiled and said " Thank you so much! I have one more question though, do you have any job openings? Since I have nobody anymore I'm going to need money for food and water." Jessie answered " Well, I could put you to clean the rooms if you would like." Jake spoke " That's perfect! I'll take it, when can I start!!" Jessie spoke " Tomorrow if that's fine with you. You can take the day shifts." She handed Jake the key to his room. Jake spoke " I'll be here in the morning." Jake ran to go find his room. Once he found it he went in. He saw the room he was in, wasn't to big and it wasn't too small either. He saw the bed and fell on top of it. He had a rough day. After a few minutes he shut his eyes closed and slept. "Jake! Jake?" Jake opened his eyes to see his mom in front of him. He got up and looked at her. He didn't believe that she was right in front of him. Jake spoke " Where are we? And how is this even possible?" His mom answered " We're in your dream, one of the powers you've unlocked is to talk to the dead in you sleep. I knew you would find this power eventually." Jake hugged his mom and began to tear up. He said " So much has been going on! Do you even know who killed you?" Samantha spoke " I had no clue, I had my guard down when it had happened." Jake gulped and said " Do you want to know who it was? I kinda found out a couple hours ago." Samantha looked at her son and said " Tell me" Jake got a little nervous and said " Well, I don't know if you're ready. It's kind of a lot to take in." She got impatient and said " Jake I have not waited here for several years just for you not wanting to tell me. I need to know!" Jake sighed and said " Fine. All the other elites came together to kill you. I don't know what their motives behind it was. That's all I know." Samantha looked hurt. She asked " Even Patricia?" Jake nodded. She smashed her hand on the ground and said " After all I had done for her, after I loved her, after I actually gave her the idea to become an elite!" Jake spoke " I know why your mad, I got so mad at them that I kind of attacked them. I need my space from them. And what do you mean you gave her the idea to become an elite?" Samantha looked up and said " When we were in our 20's the competitions were going on. Patricia never wanted to compete. Me on the other hand always dreamed of competing to become an elite. Keep in mind that at the time I was married to you father and all replicators were allowed in. You were born a couple weeks ago. Me and Patricia always liked to meet at the restaurant a couple streets down from you school. It kind of went like this (from now on this part is a flashback until I say so) Samantha spoke " Ahhh!!! I'm so excited! Next week are the tournaments!! I'm so excited!! I'm going to compete and win and become an elite!" Patricia took a sip out of her coffee and said " Oh, that's nice" Samantha calmed down and said " What? You're not excited? It's our chance to become famous and lead." Patricia replied "Nah, I'm not into that kind of stuff. I don't need that kind of responsibility in my life. All I need in life is my bed, friends,you, and coffee." Samantha had an idea and smirked. She spoke " Okay, fine if you won't do it either, and to prove it to you you and me are going to hang out in a secret area." Patricia spoke " Really? You would do that for me?" Samantha replied " Yeah! That's what friends are for. I'll see you next week I gotta go."

*One week goes by*

It was the day of the tournament, also the day for Patricia and Samantha to hang out. Samantha walked up to Patricia's house. She knocked on the door and waited for someone to open it. After a couple of minutes the door was opened. Patricia spoke " Oh, hey where ar-" Samantha put a blindfold on her eyes and said " It's a surprise, just trust me. You're going to love it." Samantha walked Patricia over to her car and let her sit down. They both got in and Samantha began to drive. Almost every minute Patricia would ask her " Are we there yet?" Once they got to the place Samantha stopped the car. They both got out. Samantha guided Patricia into the area they were in. They stopped. Samantha spoke " Okay, you can take off the blindfold now." Patricia took it off and looked around her. They were in the colosseum. Samantha spoke " Surprise! We're competing in the tournament! I already signed you in and everything." Patricia got mad and was about to storm out of the room until guards stopped her. The guards said " Halt! Competitors who have already signed in have to stay and compete. They are not allowed to leave without competing." Patricia sighed and walked back to Samantha. She spoke " Why are you making me do this Sammy? I told you I don't like this kind of stuff." Samantha replied " Well, most of the things I do with you are things you like. We never do things I like. So, let's change that." Patricia wighned and said " Ugh, fine. Only for you though." And so they both went on to compete in the competitions. They won all of them and beat the old elites. (flashback ends) Jake spoke " That's it! You skipped a bunch of details, like the matches and stuff like that!" His mom spoke " Well, you are beginning to wake up. We have a little bit of time left together. Maybe tomorrow we will talk more." Jake asked " So, every night I can talk to you." Samantha responded " Yes, it's because one of the powers you have you can do this." The ground beneath them began to deteriorate. Jake spoke quickly " Mom, where is your palace?" Samantha responded " Look for the golden forest. My palace should be in the center along with many broken down cities of mine." Everything around them broke and Jake woke up. He jumped up from his sleep and said " Golden forest huh. Let's do this."
