Free, or so We Think

I wake up sitting on the floor with something wrapped around me. I look behind me, and realize that I'm leaning up against Jake, who has him arms wrapped around me. I hurry up and get up, shoving him away. He wakes up soon after that. "Dummy...." I mumble, blushing. "W-what happened?" "We got knocked out by the explosion dumass." "Geez, what did I do?!" "Shut up," I mumble.  Jake mumbles something under his breath. I just ignore him. "We need to get out of here, we don't know if the police will come since they might have heard the explosion," I say, not making eye contact with him. "Yeah..."  I step away from the ruins of the building and look at the sun. "Agh, it's way to bright out here," "Would you rather stay in this dump?" "No...." I mumble, "That's what I thought," he says. I grumble. "Whatever, let's go." We walk out into a huge fenced yard in the middle of a city. "How are we gonna get out of this fence?" "Really?" I walk up to the wire fence and rip it apart, then walk through. Jake follows, without saying anything. "We should find an old house to take shelter in until the fuss about the lab dies down." "Yeah." We walk around until we found an old apartment building. I break down the first floor's door and we walk inside. "This is fine, I guess." "Yeah." We look around and we see a basement. We go down into it, and stay there for a few months.
