Once Sasha and I got home, we just took long warm baths and got into bed almost immediately. There was just not that much to do. Out of the blue, I started a conversation.
"I hope my Dad gets well soon, Sasha." She gripped my shoulder.
"He will!" I groaned.
"He's all I have," She sighed.
"No, he isn't. You have me too." We hugged.
"Should I get you warm milk?" I sighed.
"No. You've done more than enough for me." She didn't object, but I could tell she wanted to.
'Um...Jade? Is now a convenient enough time to tell me more about your mother? I remember everything you told me when we'd met initially, but I just thought you would like to share some more with me." I swallowed.
"Whatever I told you initially, that's it. That's all I know about my Mom." Sasha exhaled.
"Okay,no problem. As for school tomorrow, We're skipping that." I grinned.
"There's no harm done in skipping one day of school," Sasha smiled.
"Nope. There isn't. Besides, you're a secret brainbox!!! I've seen your grades you swot." I groaned.
"Hey! I am not a swot. My life is crazy, but I'm not some thick headed drug dealing troubled teen. " We both laughed at that.
"Yeah. You could really assist me in chem class more." Sasha said, still smiling softly.
"Of course. I'll do anything for you, m'lady." I said, affecting a British accent. She grinned wickedly.
"Anything?!"
"Anything!"
"Okay then," she smirked. "Talk to me about Dylan Waters." I slammed my pillow on her head and we both burst out laughing.
"Just because I said anything, doesn't mean you can torture me." I said,in between giggles. After, I turned serious.
I'm not sure I locked all the doors." Sasha groaned.
"You did! I double checked. And don't be scared. Nothing's gonna happen here, Okay?" I tried to smile bravely.
"Okay," then we both cuddled up, whispering and then falling asleep.
__________
The next day was spent on mainly idle talk and calling Mrs Markey. She was coming over. We had some toast for breakfast and some orange juice. I waited all day for news and by two o' clock, Mrs Markey showed up. I embraced her."You guys are looking good," Mrs Markey said, looking satisfied.
"Thanks," Sasha spoke up. "Have you had anything to eat? I could get you some spaghetti." Mrs Markey shook her head.
"That's OK. I would like a glass of water though." Sasha went off to get the water and she turned to face me on the couch.
"Your father is doing much better than expected. We're hoping he will be discharged tomorrow." I squealed in ecstasy.
"Really? Wow. Thank you so much Mrs Markey. How can I ever repay you?!" Mrs Markey smiled and held my hand.
"No need for that, dear. Oh! Here comes Sasha with my water. Thank you, dearest." Mrs Markey sipped on the water.
"So?! Any good news?!" Sasha asked, looking really eager and expectant. I smiled.
"There is! Should I tell her, Mrs Markey? Or will you do the honor?" Mrs Markey smiled.
"Go on, dear. Tell her." I smiled and related everything to Sasha. She jumped and smiled.
"I guess this means we can stay one more day away from school, right?" Mrs Markey raised an eyebrow.
"A day from school? There's no need for that. Your father will be discharged shortly after morning classes and the house won't collapse in just one day it's empty." Sasha and I both groaned.
"But can't we stay?!" I asked. Mrs Markey set the glass down.
"Absolutely not, girls." She smiled compassionately at us. Sasha smiled.
"Fine. I guess we'll be sleeping here alone again?" Mrs Markey nodded.
"Sorry girls. Is that a problem?" I shook my head no.
"Its not, but Jade and I are going to have to get my school clothes from my house today so we better get set." Mrs Markey nodded.
"Good idea. I'll check on you guys around six o' clock. I have to go now." We waved her goodbye as she left.
Sasha fetched some spaghetti for both of us and after eating, we both agreed it was time to get her clothes.
_______________
On the way, something struck me as we walked to her house."Have you called your parents?" I asked.
"Oh, yeah. Before we slept yesterday and when we woke up." I exhaled.
"Thank gooodness. But how are you going to get your parents to let you stay another night?" Sasha hooked her thumbs in the waist of her jeans.
"Easy peasy. I'll just say we're having a two-day sleepover. Sound good?" I shrugged.
"Sounds OK. But what about us not going to school today?" She waved her hand.
"I explained everything to them yesterday. Don't worry!" Sasha said. I sighed.
"OK."
SASHA'S POV
When we got to my house, I raised the doormat and took out the keys. I opened the door."Whoa. Empty house." I grinned.
"What did you expect? Mom and Dad are at work and my siblings are at school. Its just us here now." Jade shimmied up the stairs.
"Okay! Lets get to your room. I call dibs on the beanbag!" I smiled.
"You can call dibs on the bed, if you like. I'm gonna be too bothered with the clothes to even think of sitting!." Jade smiled.
"Even better." I was glad she was happy, so I skipped to my closet as she sat on the beanbag. As I opened the huge closet doors, Jade squinted.
"Whoa! That's a lot of color!" She sounded like she was choking. I grinned.
"What? Do you want me to wear black all the days of my life?" Jade looked genuinely convinced that black was the choice.
"Yeah!" I groaned.
"We're gonna have to teach one or two things about fashion when we get back." She groaned.
"Fashion?!?! Its an excuse to shop for people's clothes and look horrible." I shook my head.
"Listen to yourself!" I was rummaging around my closet seriously now, thinking hard. I brought out a white crop top with a little jean jacket and black leggings with white Adidas shoes.
"Hey! We have a winner! Its black and white and looks really cool and you'll approve!"
