"Xuanyi jie-jie, I'll be heading to school now okay?" the younger one yelled towards his sister who was in the kitchen, busy cooking.

Frankly speaking, there wasn't an actual need to yell in this house that was barely half the size of their previous home.

This tiny worn-out flat had been their home for the past 2 years as they had to sell their original house to make a living.

"Okay Minghao, you better get going before your discipline master lectures you about punctuality, " Xuanyi replied while checking if the porridge was ready to be served.

Once again, she glanced at her watch to make sure she had enough time to prepare for work.

She couldn't afford to be late as she desperately needed this job.

Like any other day, she poured the plain porridge into a container before adjusting her uniform.

She looked at the reflection of her tiny self that made the oversized uniform appear even bigger.

As much as she wished her uniform could look like those that were worn by teenagers of her age, she knew very well she had to place food on the table for her brother and herself.

She knew that dropping out of school would halt her from chasing her dreams as an architect but she had to.

Quiting school was a correct decision, she assured herself before taking the mildly warm porridge with her.

She swiftly closed the door and headed to work, worried that she would be late.

Being late was something not acceptable for her and she wouldn't risk her brother's future for some unrealistic dream that wouldn't have made a change in her life.
