⠀ ⠀⠀▸ Where am I..?

It was August, yet the wind was a little more than chilly. Jack Frost was definitely nipping with my nose, which I didn't particularly like. But this was a sign; a sign that I was getting close.

The target was number 36 on The List: Nix. I know, the number is low, and it was lower. Recently he has been slowly rising up the ranks, due to his sudden interest in kidnappings. He used to only steal and smuggle goods with the help of his spacial powers, but I guess he recently discovered the profit of human trafficking.

Not good.

The chilling wind picked up and blew against me, sending my body into small shivering seizers. He was undoubtably close. As people quickly walked by going the opposite direction, away from the cold and to their homes, I can't stress the amount of weird looks I got. I can't blame them, though. Boots, Jeans (with thermal tights underneath), sweater, huge black jacket... I was an Eskimo compared to them. And as I said, it was August. Sure, August in the north but it wasn't usually this bad.

Yet. I was about to fight a monster from Planet Meat Locker.

I shoved my bare hands into my pockets and I stepped into an empty, dark, alleyway that seemed to be a perfect location for crimes. Murder, thievery, dealing. And as the snow slowly fell from the clouds and down to the ground below, I knew this was a perfect location for an alien's crimes as well.

I stood there, awaiting my 'doom' as some aliens like to call it. Glancing around, I winced at the trash thrown about the dumpsters and the relatively nasty atmosphere from this alley. As I huffed a disgusted sigh, I became fascinated like a child all over again. Looking up, I watched my breath in the cold night air. And then... It disappeared. I looked around, rather confused by this. It definitely didn't get warmer, so why did it-?

And then it hit me. Literally. The whole place was in a deep icy fog, which my breath easily blended into. I opened my mouth to speak, to project, to see if he was out there, but I was cut off by a startled yell.

"It's coming, it's coming..!"
And I thought I was alone. A homeless man jumped up from his seat behind a dumpster and made a mad dash out of the alley and down the street.

So he must be terrorizing the local hobos on his free time.

Burying my face into my jacket's giant collar, I glanced around as the haze thickened around me. I was trying so hard to keep myself from shivering, It was almost pathetic. I am Alparian, after all. But I guess that's how cold it was...

And then it happened. You know that lightheaded feeling you get when you rapidly stand up after laying down for a while? It felt like that. I closed my eyes tight, stumbling to the brick wall of the alleyway and placing my hand on it for balance. This sensation went on for a good 30 seconds before everything settled, and it went sickeningly quiet. The air was still.

I opened one eye slowly, noticing that the air was clear; the fog had lifted. Okay. I opened my other eye and looked behind me, and that's when I lost it.

A few feet past the alley opening was a street lamp. A few feet behind that...

Was nothing but stars and twirling galaxies thrown about the black canvas of space!
