this is based off a story I've read but changed a little.
...
I'm the type of person who has lots of trouble falling asleep. Horrifying visions invade my dreams so that I dread when night comes. If I had my way, I'd skip the whole bedtime thing that everybody does. But I can't.
So a few nights ago, as my roommate turned out the light, I decided to just look out the window instead of sleep. But strangely, I saw two streetlights shining in the darkness.
They were beautiful, and seemed like the color of Heaven itself. With a soft, yellow glow, and beautiful depth, it was easy to get lost in them. Soon I was lulled to sleep, comforted by their presence. Every night after that, I was able to fall asleep easily by staring into those lights. Sometimes they'd flicker, but they never went out, so that they became something I could count on.
But just this last night, they were gone. It made me extremely angry that nobody had bothered to fix them. That night I couldn't sleep at all. Once again, terrifying images disturbed my dreams as I tossed and turned. Finally, I just couldn't take it.
I got out of bed and slipped on my sandals to go outside. But then I heard a creak at my roommate's bed. I turned around to see a gargoyle - like creature sitting on my roommate's bed, with long talons and blood dripping from it's fangs.
Two yellow lights were coming from its eyes.
