Welcome to my first story on wattpad! I'm glad you're taking the time to read my work. This chapter is dedicated to ridingrl, for fanning me even though I haven't writen anything. Her work is amazing, and I recommend it to all of you. Before I start writing, I want to say something. First of all, my story might be a bit slow in the beginning, and confusing, but I promise it gets better. Second, I love constructive criticism. If you find something wrong, tell me! I write this on my iPad, so the autocorrect isn't great. Third, enjoy!

Prologue

A man sat a desk in a small white room, his head bent over papers on his desk. A knock sounded and he glanced up. "Come in!" he called. The door was pushed open and a girl walked in, her white hair pulled back in a ponytail. "Cass, what a surprise! To what do I owe this pleasure?"

The girl rocked from foot to foot nervously. She looked about fourteen, and was stunningly beautiful, with waist-length white hair, sea green eyes, and delicate features. She took a deep breath. "I had a vision."

"Yes?" The man leaned forward.

She looked him directly in the eye. "The Five are coming."

"What? Now? Do you know who they are?"

"No. But I know they will be incredibly powerful. And they are coming soon."

Chapter 1

Kaolin was lost. Completely, totally lost. They had showed her where her classes were yesterday, but she had already forgotten. She was supposed to be in Room 215, but she must have taken a wrong turn and was now at 243. Great, she thought. My first day, and I'm already making a fool of myself. She dashed around a corner, her black hair whipping behind her, and ran straight into someone. Her schedule spun out of her hand. "Sorry." She muttered, her brown cheeks flushed with embarrassment.

"It's not your fault." The boy said, leaning down to pick up her schedule. "I should have been watching where I was going." He smiled. Kaolin smiled back gratefully. He had messy, curly golden hair and freckles, with a friendly, open face, and blue-green eyes that glittered with mischief. His ears stuck out and were pointed slightly. He looked like an elf. Glancing at her schedule, he said" You know that you're headed in the wrong direction, right?"

Kaolin blushed.

"Don't worry, the hallways confuse me too. I just had history already, so I remember where it is. Is it your first day?"

"Yeah."

"It's mine too. See you later!"

He turned away, then paused and turned back around. "Oh, shoot, wait! I never told you my name. It's Zack."

"Mine's Kaolin. Bye!"

"Nice name. Bye!"

Kaolin turned around and headed back the way she had come. She eventually found the right class and got inside right before the bell rang. She took a seat at the front of the class.

Looking around, she saw that the walls were covered in posters and maps. In some places there were empty spaces, as if something had been taken down. One of the maps caught her eye. It was of a country she had never seen before. By the look of the map, most of it was wooded, but there were also mountains, deserts, and what seemed to be rainforests. Kaolin frowned. The country must be huge, to include all that. Why had she never seen it before? All of it was labeled in strange, hard-to-pronounce names. Suddenly the teacher seemed to notice her looking at it. His eyes widened, and he quickly strode over to it. He pulled it off the wall and rolled it up. His eyes met her grey eyes, and he looked away nervously. Then he walked to the front of the room and began to speak.
