yesterday, i sat down at my
kitchen table
and planned out my funeral
(it has to be
p e r f e c t)

i. the ceremony must take place
on a warm, sunshine day
you always thought i was so happy
because of the image on the surface
but something sad lay underneath;

ii. there must be real flowers
given to all of the guests
while real flowers are lovely
for the time that they are living
real flowers also wither and die
only to be thrown away;

iii. i have decided that
the flowers
must be roses
some say that roses are beautiful
but they come in the color of blood
and have thorns that my mother
would otherwise pay
to have removed;

iv. closed casket
don't let the undertaker cover
my scars or force my face
to fake another smile for you.
