Hoseok's POV.
A sudden halt woke me up. I looked around and realised that I was in a bus. It had reached the stop I needed to get down in. As I alighted the bus, a chilly breeze blew across my face, making my eyes water. As I walked back home quietly after yet another tiring day of work, my mind started replaying scenes that would often unfolded in front of my eyes after reaching home. Blood, bottles, screams, scattered plates, my alcoholic father beating up my mother. Tears started rolling down my cheeks as these imagery flashed through my mind. How long would I have to deal with this? I can't bear seeing my mother bashed up everyday. How long am I going to work until I black out everyday, just to bring money back home, that is going to be used up at the liquor shop by my father. As I reached the front of my house, or should I say shack, I hesitated, should I go in or not? I didn't have the strength to face it everyday like this. But who would my mum have as to support her if not me?
I let out a sigh as I opened the rickety gate, expecting commotion as usual. Surprisingly, there was nothing. Not a single sound coming from the house. What had happened? Is mum okay? I ran to the front door. It was unlocked. I crept in, wary of my father. But there was only silence.
"Eomma?"
"Eomma!"
There was no reply. Where is she? What had happened? As a million questions passed through my head, I inched towards the kitchen.
" Eomma! No! Eomma, wake up, what happened? Eomma!" I cried as I saw her bloody body lying unconsciously on the floor. A broken bottle was stabbed into her body.
"Eomma!" I yelled as I shook her face violently. Slowly, she began opening her eyes as she groaned in pain. I couldn't help hold my tears back.
"Eomma! What happened?"
"Hoseok, get out of here.. ahh... son, here take this with you." she said as she handed me her locket.
"Eomma!"
"Son, go... get away from that devil. I won't survive. Go son go!" she said. I didn't know what to do. I grabbed her hand and cried my heart out. I can't leave her. Not like this!
"Eomma! I will never leave you..." I cried, looking into her eyes. It was becoming dry. Her hand was getting colder and colder as seconds ticked by. No, I won't let this happen.
"Eomma!" I said as horror started to creep in me. I shook her head again. But, it rolled lifelessly to the side. "Eomma!" I yelled as I checked her pulse rate and breathing.
" Noooooo!" This can't be happening. My mother, she was the only person in this world that I could go to for comfort. She is gone. She left me, with the devil, in this hell. I cried my heart out as I wrapped my hands around her cold fingers.
" Go... Get away from the devil." I remembered her words. I have lost everything, even my mum. There is no point in me staying here now. If I would stay any longer, I might end up murdering my own father. I quickly took my bag and packed my clothes and mother's locket, the only assets I owned. I didn't wanted to stay any longer. I ran out of the house to the nearest train station. I got on the train that had arrived, not knowing where it was heading to.
~ Flash Forward some time~
I woke up hearing the commotion happening around me. I looked around. The train had stopped in Busan. Busan? How long have I been sleeping for? I got down at the station. I looked around. The station was bustling with people. A fresh breeze blew across my face, carrying with it a refreshing scent. As it blew past, it took away all my worries, sufferings and memories. This breeze, this scent, the people, everything was new. This is going to be my new life. Its a new beginning, my past has ended in Gwangju. This is Busan and a new me.

Hey guys so hope you enjoyed the prologue of the story. The places that are stated here, Busan and Gwangju, are going to be described differently in the story than in real life, as it is a fictional story and also, I have never been to South Korea myself. :)
