Lauren's POV

I woke up to my alarm clock buzzing to a constant beeping noise. I groaned, then, hesitantly, uncovered myself from the warmth of my covers. I logged myself onto my back, facing the ceiling. I sat there for a few minutes, trying to remember why I was even awake so early. I glanced at my alarm clock.

"Holy crap, 6:30am?!" I breathed. I heard a knock at my door, then willed myself to my feet, padding over to the door.

"Oh hey, you're up too," I yawned, greeting my father as he stood with a coffee in his hand.

"Hey, you've got school remember?"

"Oh shoot, that's right," I realized, rubbing the sleep out of my glazed eyes. "I'll be down in a little bit," I said offering a tired smile, to which he nodded his head in return.
I quickly finished breakfast, heading upstairs to finish getting ready for school.

I was going to start 8th grade today, so it was a big deal for me, new school, most of the people I'd meet would be new, coming from other schools entering high school.

After I took a shower, I quickly brushed my damp black hair, as well as my teeth, then started to assemble my countless school supplies into my bag when I heard a faint sigh.

"Are you nervous?" My brother asked interestedly.

"I don't know, am I?" I scoffed.

"Well if you want me to walk with you to school you'd better hurry your ass up," he sneered.

I walked down my hallway towards the kitchen.

"Ah, damn," I yelped as my toe hit the wall harshly. In my moment of pain I jumped back, tripping and landing on my right knee as it collided with the solid ground with a loud thump. "Fuck!" I shouted, cupping my knee firmly with my hands as I composed myself enough to go get ice to put on it.

An hour later, I found myself begging my mom to drive us to school, seeing as my knee would only hold me from walking the short distance to school. She eventually caved, frowning in defeat as she walked outside to her car, Chris and I at toe.

As we arrived, Chris and I entered the building. I was eyeing the decoration. The walls were white, blue stripes flowing down the walls like a waterfall. The floor was white with a gray marble design. The crowd was insane. Dozens of teenagers packed together, pushing and shoving to find their classes amongst the endless maze of hallways. I looked at my schedule and saw my home room number, 727, I frowned, looking at the labyrinth like structure around me. I'm screwed, I thought as I began navigating through the crowd.
