Name: Kira Greenfield
Gender: Female
Birthday: October 24
Daughter of Poseidon, The Sea God
My name is Kira Greenfield. At first, you may think I'm some scrawny little kid. If you really knew me, like Percy and Lotus do, you would know my true power. In other words, do not underestimate me.
I was always told by my mother that I was special. She told me I was a descendant of heroes and powerful people. I never believed that. I look nothing like a hero. I have greenish turquoise eyes, and a pale face splattered with freckles. My black hair droops a little below my shoulders. I was short and skinny at the time. I always smiled when my mother told me about my heroic ancestors, though I never believed her. We lived happily in Long Island, New York. We called the little blue apartment on the corner of a busy street our home. Well, I called it home until I ran away.
My mother worked at a surf shop. She loved surfing. It was like the water was her true place of tranquility, which it was. One fine Saturday morning, we decided to go surfing with her buddies. We headed out to the ocean, and surfed for a few hours. She promised me her and I would go out for ice cream afterwards. I never got that ice cream. She was attacked by a shark, and her last words were: "Find Camp Half-Blood. Be brave. I love you, Kira...".
I was offered a ride home from Julia, one of my mother's friends that went surfing with her. I said yes, only because the hospital was pretty far away from my apartment. "Are you sure you'll be okay?" Julia asked once she stopped by my apartment complex. I tried to talk, but my voice left me. I just nodded, tears streaming down my face. I rushed into my room and plopped onto my bed. I threw a tantrum, screaming and punching everything in sight. I eventually just crumbled onto the floor. Just calm down, Kira. Mom is dead, and you can't do anything about it, Kira thought to herself. I remembered my mother mentioning a Camp Half-Blood. I got up off the floor, and ran to the computer. I went on Google Maps and looked up "Camp Half-Blood". Nothing. It didn't exist.
I didn't care. I would be willing to search all of Long Island to find it. My mother told me to find it, and I made a mental vow that I would find it. I grabbed a backpack, and filled it with extra sets of clothes, some money, and a few other essentials. I took one last good look at my bed. I had a feeling I wouldn't be sleeping there any time soon. I exited my apartment and caught a taxi. I told him to take me near Long Island Sound, because, I don't know. I thought It would be a good start. He eventually stopped in the middle of nowhere.
"Umm... sir? This isn't Long Island Sound." I said, annoyed. The driver just grinned. "I know, Kira. You belong here. Right over there," he pointed into the woods "is Camp Half-Blood." He said. Kira was stunned. How did he know my name, and how did he know I was looking for Camp Half-Blood? "Oh, how rude of me! I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Steve. I'm a satyr!" He said enthusiastically. He kicked off his shoes, and I nearly fainted. He had no feet, he had hooves. "Now go on! Follow that trail and you'll see the entrance to a camp. Go into the camp and speak to Chiron, the centaur." Steve said. I just nodded my head "Thanks for the ride..." I said, and handed him money to pay for the ride. "Oh, no charge! I'm just a satyr doing his job of leading half-bloods safely to camp." Steve said. I smiled and rushed out of the taxi. I thought that "satyr" was a total nut job, but it didn't matter. I reached my destination.
I walked the trail, and entered the camp. I had to stand there for what seemed like forever to take in all my surroundings. People everywhere. Cabins everywhere. A strawberry field shined with the red fruit in the distance. I have to find Chiron, the centaur, I thought. I walked up to the nearest person, a boy with black hair and sea green eyes... he looked just like me. "Hi! I'm looking for Chiron... the centaur." I said. I knew a lot about Greek mythology, so I wasn't confused about satyrs and centaurs, but the satyr was actually real. The boy smiled. "You must be new. I'm Percy Jackson. What's your name?"
Percy Jackson... I knew this guy. It all came back to me. He was my old friend. "Oh! Percy! I remember you know. I'm Kira Greenfield... do you remember me?" I said, hopefully. He knit his eyebrows for a second, then a huge grin spread on his face. "Kira! It's been so long. So... you're a half-blood?" Percy asked. I shrugged my shoulders. "Well, you obviously are, you're here. Lets get you to Chiron" Percy said.
Within the next few hours, a lot happened. I met Chiron, the guy with a horse butt. Then, I met a bunch of other kids who here half-bloods too. I was told to settle in the Hermes cabin, since I was "undetermined". Percy gave me a tour of camp, and I immediately felt at home. I made a new friend as well. Her name is Lotus, and she was probably the prettiest girl I've ever seen (In a friend way). She had strawberry blonde hair, and flashy orange eyes. She said she was a child of Hades, the King of the Underworld. "You know... you look a lot like Percy. Are you guys related?" I shook my head. I wouldn't know until I was claimed by my godly parent. Yet, it seemed like everyone was giving me hints to who my father was. "She's definitely Poseidon's kid... Looks like we got another Seaweed Brain... Well, look at that! Percy has a new sister!" muttered everyone who passed by me.
Then came dinner. The food was awesome, but everyone was staring at me while I was eating, muttering more Poseidon or Percy related things. All of a sudden, everyone gasped. They stared at something right above my head. I looked up, and saw a glowing green trident. "Kira Greenfield, daughter of Poseidon, The Sea God, Earthshaker, Father of Horses" said Chiron.
That's me, Kira Greenfield. I eventually continued year-round at Camp Half-Blood, and went on quests you never knew were even possible to complete. If you're wondering how I got this far, I have five words for you: I am a special girl.
