Makeovers and Showboating

I haven't read "The Hunger Games" for over two years, so expect some fuckups along the way. Also, go check out JoshMartell's Wattpad, he's the one who motivates me to get up off my ass and update. So yeah, thanks to him. That is all, enjoy.

As soon as we walked inside, we were hit by a pleasant breeze that seemed more enjoyable than air conditioning. I stretched and took in my surroundings and immediately straightened up and possibly jumped as I turned my head and saw the middle aged woman with orange hair and thick, long eyelashes that were tiger striped half a foot away from me, a very excited smile on her face.

"Look Loraina, the tributes are finally here!" She said in a happy, high pitched voice as she inspected every inch of us. "And they're such cuties!"

"Maeda, give em' some space, they're probably sore from the train ride and aren't in the mood for your shenanigans." said a woman with pink hair and purple eyeshadow with very vibrant red contacts in her eyes. She turned to us. "Sorry about her, she gets a little excited when it comes to this time of year. Anyways, I'm Loraina and thats Maeda and we're your stylists. Let's get a move on now, we have to get started."

So they led Meena and me off to their styling areas and I could've sworn I felt Maeda smell me along the way. I really didn't know what I thought about her as a stylist, she seemed nice enough, but in a creepy way. Anyways, we finally got there through the waxed and spacious halls and I had to go first.

Okay, I can stand being slashed by a knife, burned, or many other uncomfortable things, but being naked just makes me feel silly. I probably acted like a child when they tried to get me to take my clothes off and Maeda eventually did it forcefully. Did I mention I hate being groomed? Well I do, and that probably didn't make it any easier for them, but it was a nightmare. If you ever think about getting your genitals waxed: don't, it isn't worth the pain. I'll spare you the details, but when they were done with me there wasn't a single hair on any part of my body besides my head. (which had been scrubbed so hard I could hardly feel it)

Afterwards, I walked out still feeling naked despite the fact that I'm in a fancy suit. Meena took one look at me and burst out laughing. "Aw, godzilla was shaved, how cute." She kept laughing even as she was being led away by Loraina and I immediatly flopped down onto the bed. Let me just say the smile on her face was long gone when she walked out.

Just before Meena sat down in an armchair a man walked in. (Don't kill me for not knowing what he's called, he's just the guy who chooses what they wear for the big event with all of the chariots) He was incredibly pale with dyed red hair and had purple eyes. Not contacts, his eyes were actually a crystal shade of purple, they had some gloom to them, but they were still quite radiant, I was thinking about asking about them but thought against it. "So, you're District two's tributes. I've seen worse" Considering just about everyone at the capital was either weird or a douche I ignored his remark.

"The name's Fawx, you're Mitch and Meena and it's my job to make you look memorable for the ceremony while keeping it relevant to your District. What would you think about a medival blacksmith theme? You'd be wearing red and black armor pieces and maybe be holding fake hammers or swords.

"Fine be me, sounds pretty cool" I said, which Meena soon agreed to.

So Meena's hair was put into a braid while mine was gelled and combed and we were both put into sets of what I found out was worbla armor (picture here http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-IDYPiCAeUcU/T_Loyrki7xI/AAAAAAAAA3Y/kF4FZeAZrT0/s1600/IMG_9053_12.jpg) which felt like a lightweight plastic but looked real. My set covered all of my body while Meena's was in two pieces showing off her belly button. I was pretty stunned to see how badass we looked and how bad some of the other outfits were. Really though, some just looked like childrens' costumes. District 1 had leather jackets and gold jewelry, District 3 had some weird animal theme, Eddie had fox ears and a tail with an orange jacket (which I must say, didn't look half bad on him with his facial stubble) while Rachel had pink cat ears and a tail as well as a pink jacket. District 4 sported Elliott Morgan in a tie and a sharp, professional looking suit while Meg had the same look with her grey suit and red scarf. Her red hair was put into ruffles and she wore her thick, black glasses. District 5 had Felix in a blue t-shirt and darker blue shorts (dressed as Finn from Adventure time) and Trisha had a sort of blue sleeveless dress with a golden band around her middle (dressed as Daenerys Targaryen) District 6 had Adam and Tiffany both in golden armor with a pink cupcake printed onto the chestplate of Tiffany. District 7 had Jerome in a black suit with a red tie, and everybody was a little bit shocked to see that he was a Bacca. They roam the woods of District 7 and tend to be feared. I guessed that they took him in and taught him how to talk. Cynthia was human, and wearing a sunset pink dress with her hair down. District 8 had Jackson and Emma both in very strange yet badass outfits. They both wore what were some sorts of black ninja suits, except Jackson's was yellow in some places while Emma's was blue. They both had masks that covered their mouths. (dressed as Scorpion and Subzero) District 9 had Lewis in some sort of commander suit and Hannah in a blue t-shirt with grey jeans and an owl hat. District 10 had Melvin with his reddish brown hair styled like fire which fit nicely with his red jumpsuit and red contacts while Doxy looked just the same except her dark brown hair wasn't as radiant. District 11 had Nate dressed in a green v-neck shirt with a leather jacket over the top with the collar flipped down. He also held some purple sort of ball with an M on it. Lee was a little more.... interesting being dressed in a green dinosaur suit. Nate was alright, but I honestly wondered what drugs the people who styled Lee were on. And finally, District 12 had Josh and Ashlee rather dully put into a coal miner outfit. With their looks, they could have done so much better.

All of the tributes were gathered up and led to the hall where we would mount our chariots. After hearing how loud the spectators were through the wall, I prayed I wouldn't go deaf from the noise. On a side note, I have to bring up that it was a little awkward being pushed onto a very small chariot with a person that you're giving the cold shoulder to, really, knowing Meena I was afraid to move in fear of getting into her personal space.

Then we were off, the doors were opened and our eardrums were flooded with noise. The sound of people cheering, cheering for us, they're glad that we exist and are cheering with all of their lung power for us. I've spent my life training, and this is the greatest pay off there is. Pure pride swelled over me and I began showboating all I could for their attention, waving to the crowd and catching flowers thrown at me and throwing them to other audience members. While Meena played along and blew kisses, she refused to hold my hand to show our pride and showed so by slashing my hand with her fingernails. I don't remember anything else of the event minus getting a sizeable amount of applause from the audience, maybe more than any other. All in all, this new environment had given me a thrill that couldn't be capped by any amount of practice swordfighting and I would be sad to let this new feeling go.
