electra tran is that girl.

( they are mostly right about her. she is, after all, entirely that girl, doused in champagne and glitter and glory. she is that girl, with the porsche and personal jet and designer bag. she is that girl who goes to every party even barely whispered about in the halls of midtown high. she is that girl who smokes on the school bleachers without even once being caught. she is that girl who breaks hearts for a living, spitting them out raw just after she consumes them whole. she is that girl who writes in bright pink sharpie on lockers and bathroom walls and tabletops—send your love. she is that girl who starts fights and finishes them as well, with only the click of her tongue. she is that girl who lies about herself and gossips daily and cheats until she can't cheat anymore. she is that girl who boys completely want and girls completely envy. electra turns out to be that girl—revered and worshipped by all.)

she knows about her status, really. electra knows perfectly well about it all. she knows how to play her cards right. she knows how not to slip up. she knows how to manage a steady and solid reputation, and to not let it fall and crumble within itself. she basically masters—and is mastering—the game. electra, in fact, completely hones it.

( however, what she wouldn't [and didn't] expect from her oh-so-perfect-life was the ultimate spark—which would lead to a late, yet timely, explosion.)

it is during the dog days of midsummer, a time of life and awakening and change, that electra's powers really truly decide to manifest in her—a slow yet steady bloom. fire spouts through her veins, slowly making its way through her, and everything, yet slowly, starts to reveal itself, gathering for the perfect moment.

she doesn't really realize it, at least not at first. she doesn't feel it pulsing through her veins that summer, electrifying to the core. she doesn't observe something in the air, something just lurking around the corner and waiting to be found. she doesn't notice a shift in the world, a momentum that will ultimately change her life. she doesn't notice a quick flicker that late summer afternoon on the beach, dancing bright for just a split second on her palm—a small thing, really, but powerful to the touch.

( and what she doesn't realize is that her powers, as weak as they are now, will soon activate—bringing a culmination of change along with them.)
