Scars

Some say scars don't heal
Some say scars show who you are
Some say they add beauty
Some say they are ugly.

But to me,
They mean something else.
My scars don't heal,
nor do they hurt.
They haunt me each and everyday
until I feel numb.

It's better to hide these,
then to show.
Because nothing hurts better
when people peck you,
when you're open and sore.

But these scars have taught me things,
things that no one can teach.
They taught me to love the things
I cannot love.
To brighten up dark crevices
where light has done none.
To hug the wounded
and maybe heal some holes.

I know scars don't heal
and they show us who we are.
But let me tell you a secret darling
That no one will tell.
The most beautiful scars
will not be shown.
Because these are the ones
that hurt the most.
